?Chapter 991:
Marvin’s harsh actions against the Rollins and Hill families had stirred up chaos among Critport’s prominent families. Previously agreed partnerships were scrapped, and families that had never been connected began to form alliances.
This restructuring had provided an opportunity for the GT Group, an outsider, to thrive. Kaiden was busy with frequent business trips, so Ellie stopped going to his office.
Ellie sat in the sunset, reading a book, but soon her eyes began to ache. Her vision asionally blurred. Ellie initially brushed it off, but the next morning, she woke up to a few moments ofplete darkness.
She blinked forcefully until her vision cleared and returned to normal. This was unusual. Ellie always took her health seriously, especially during pregnancy, so she promptly had her driver take her to the hospital.
After aprehensive check-up, her eyes were dered healthy, and everything appeared normal. The ENT and orthopedics offices shared the same building. As Ellie descended in the elevator, a man and a woman stepped in.
“El…”
Flossie felt a twinge of guilt instinctively, though nothing had transpired between her and Levy. She had simply apanied Levy for a check-up.
Ellie nodded and inquired, “Mr. Sanders, are you feeling better?”
“Almost fully recovered,” Levy replied. He no longer needed to support his arm, and his strained muscles were almost healed.
“Ellie, what brings you to the hospital?” he inquired. He recalled that Ellie usually didn’t have her prenatal check-ups here.
“I was just here for a check-up.”
“El, are you feeling unwell?” Flossie asked anxiously, moving closer to Ellie. “Did youe to the hospital alone? Let me take you hometer.”
Flossie knew something was bothering Baylee and noticed that Ellie hade to the hospital without her. Levy felt excluded.
“Remember, Flossie, Ellie has bodyguards and a driver,” he pointed out. Even with Kaiden away from Critport, Ellie always had people looking out for her.

“You have bodyguards and a driver too,” Flossie countered. Pregnant women neededpanionship; bodyguards and drivers weren’t the same as friends.
Ellie was pleasantly surprised by Flossie’s assertiveness and almost wanted to apud. Flossie handled it well. She stood her ground against Levy.
Levy looked at Flossie helplessly and eventually left reluctantly.
Still concerned, Flossie asked Ellie a few more questions to make sure she was truly okay before finally easing her worries.
“I’m just here with Levy for a follow-up appointment. After this, we’re done,” Flossie said proactively.
“Flossie, your rtionship is your own. You don’t owe anyone an exnation,” Ellie said sincerely.
“I know you said those things earlier to protect me from getting hurt.” Flossie sighed as she gazed out of the car window. “My rtionship with him was like a moth to a me. I knew it wouldn’t end well right from the start.”
“If you knew that, why did you get involved with him in the first ce?” Ellie frowned. She remembered that Flossie and Levy first met in a bar, where Flossie identally spilled a drink on Levy’s shirt. It had been an uncharacteristic move from Flossie, one that Ellie hadn’t expected her to make. Then Ellie had started to understand Flossie’s persistence with Levy. Things that had seemed confusing began to make sense.
