?Chapter 989:
Two dayster, Baylee messaged Ellie, informing her that everything had been sorted out.
Ellie replied, “Sorted out? What about Marvin?”
Baylee replied, “My godson’s godfather might be out of the picture.” This suggested that Baylee had ended her rtionship with Marvin.
Ellie wrote, “It’s no big deal. You’ll easily find another godfather for your godson.” Baylee responded with a thumbs-up emoji.
“Are your eyes bothering you?” Kaiden inquired. He had just returned from the meeting room and noticed Ellie rubbing her eyes with one hand, holding her phone with the other.
Recently, Ellie had fewer tasks, and Kaiden often brought her along to the office. Initially reluctant, Ellie had been persuaded by Bruce, who pointed out that her presence improved Kaiden’s mood and helped maintain harmony with the executives. No serious executive would tolerate a boss who was consistentlyte and left early.
“My eyes are a bit tired,” Ellie mentioned, closing her eyes briefly to rest. “Is the meeting over?”
“Yes,” Kaiden confirmed. “Marvin has been going after the Rollins family and causing trouble with the Hill family too. He’s had a big sh with Shelton.” Kaiden held Ellie on hisp. He enjoyed the feeling of holding her close. She was soft and smelled nice, which made him want to hold on to her.
Ellie looked at him. Her tone was slightly sharp as she said, “Are you going to defend Marvin?” The look in her eyes suggested that if Kaiden said yes, she would get up from hisp right away.
“No,” he replied simply.
“That’s good.”
Kaiden wasn’t fully aware of the details between Marvin and Baylee, but judging from Marvin’s recent actions, he figured their conflict likely involved Quincy and the Hill family.
“Marvin is actually quite impressive,” Kaiden remarked after a long pause. When it came to capability, character, and demeanor, there were few people his age that Kaiden would praise as highly.
Ellie, still resting her eyes, responded calmly, “He made Baylee upset, and you think he’s impressive?” She always defended her friends fiercely, no matter what.
Kaiden was momentarily at a loss for words. He decided it was best to keep quiet.
“Glenn is in Critport for a business trip today and suggested we have dinner together tonight,” Ellie told him. She had received this news while Kaiden was in a meeting.
“Sure.”
Just as Kaiden agreed, there was a knock on the door. rinda entered with a stack of documents.
“Mr. Thorpe, here’s the merger n for the new project. Please take a look.” After discussing business, rinda handed a book to Ellie. “Mrs. Thorpe, you left this book in the meeting room earlier.”
Ellie had had a meeting with a client at GT Group yesterday and had forgotten her book in the meeting room.
“Thanks,” Ellie replied.
As Kaiden reviewed the merger n, he asked Ellie, “What does Glenn like to eat? I’ll have Bruce book a restaurant.”
“He said he’s okay with whatever,” Ellie replied, then suggested a new private dining spot in Critport.
