?Chapter 975:
With a stern expression, Ellie continued, “I’m not concerned about your past with Flossie. I just hope you won’t hurt her again. If you can’tmit, don’t lead her on. She’s not like those previous girlfriends of yours.” The word “those” dripped with irony once more.
Levy sighed wryly. “I got it, Ellie!”
“Coal Ball!”
Flossie walked into the vet hospital, and a ck puppy in the cage started wagging its tail excitedly. Its right front paw was still in a splint, and its belly was wrapped in gauze from surgery. It couldn’t move around much.
Luckily, it bounced back quicker than regr pets. Now, Coal Ball was full of energy and barking excitedly when it saw Flossie.
“Miss Yount, it knows you,” the nurse said.
Just as the nurse spoke, a tall man, apanied by another nurse, approached. Flossie stood up straight and felt a bit flustered.
“Mr. Sanders…” she greeted, her voice caught.
“Amy mentioned the dog was here. I thought I’d take a look,” Levy exined. He walked over to Flossie, frowning at the ck puppy in the tiny cage.
“Woof!” Coal Ball barked at Levy, showing its teeth.
It was just a small three-pound puppy, and baring its teeth wasn’t scary at all. Flossie, feeling protective, nudged Levy back a bit.
“Dogs are very perceptive. It knows what that look means.”
Levy nced at his chest where Flossie had touched his shirt.
At that moment, Flossie realized what she had done. Embarrassed, she hid her hand behind her back, pretending nothing had happened, and bent down to y with Coal Ball in the cage.
Coal Ball could be discharged today and would recover at home.
Flossie bought a pet carrier at the hospital and ced Coal Ball inside. Coal Ball peeked out, curious about his surroundings.

Thebined weight of the carrier and the dog was heavy, making it hard for Flossie to lift.
“Let me carry it,” Levy offered.
Levy grabbed the pet carrier with his left hand.
His warm skin brushed against Flossie’s cool hand. Flossie’s heart skipped a beat, feeling the warmth linger. They had shared more intimate moments, but now these small touches stirred her emotions. Flossie felt foolish for reacting this way.
“Woof! Woof! Woof!” Coal Ball noticed someone else carrying it and barked in protest from the pet carrier.
Worried Coal Ball might aggravate its wound, Flossie quickly reached for the carrier and said, “Mr. Sanders, I’ll carry it myself. Your injuries aren’t healed yet.” Her main concern was Coal Ball getting hurt.
Levy effortlessly dodged Flossie’s hand. He nced at Coal Ball and said coolly, “Don’t spoil it.”
“Woof!”
Flossie squatted in front of the pet carrier and said to Coal Ball, “Be good. We’ll be home soon.”
Her voice was gentle, and she seemed very patient.
