Chapter 970

    ?Chapter 970:

Hearing this, Glenn rxed and responded, “I’ve arranged for Daniel to go to the Thorpes’ house and handle things. You don’t need to worry about it.”

    “Okay.”

After hanging up, Ellie sensed the coldness in Kaiden’s gaze. He looked at her and asked, “Was it a mistake to marry me?” Ellie was at a loss for words.

Kaiden seemed somewhat downcast, though he didn’t even realize it. “Has your family been urging you all day to get a divorce?”

Ellie rested her head on his shoulder and gently ran her fingers through his hair, holding his arm.

“Glenn is just protective. He’s worried I might get mistreated. Kaiden, you’re the father of our baby. How could I leave our child without a father?”

“Didn’t you once say that our child could thrive without a father? Hasn’t Glenn always wanted to take my son from me?” Kaiden snorted.

    Ellie was taken aback.

How could Kaiden bring up those offhand remarks at a moment like this?

“You have a great memory. Impressive,” Ellie thought to herself.

Just as Ellie was about to speak positively about Glenn to Kaiden to improve his opinion, Kaiden suddenly nced to his right. His previously gentle expression toward Ellie vanished, reced by indifference toward the others. Standing nearby, rinda apologized, “Sorry to interrupt, Mr. and Mrs. Thorpe.”

“Miss Hilton.” Ellie sat up straight and nodded at rinda.

Kaiden felt a weight lift from his shoulder as Ellie moved away from him. He nced at rinda, his expression tense.

“I’vee to ask Mrs. Brisa Thorpe to return to her room and rest,” rinda said.

Brisa was scheduled for her bone marrow transnt the next day. She had been well enough today to leave the ward for a while, but Jorge couldn’t rx knowing she was always outside.

Ellie nodded, choosing not to say anything further.

rinda entered the ward, hiding her emotions behind lowered eyes. She had just overheard Glenn’s name.

Shortly after the servant escorted Brisa back to her room, Daniel arrived. As the representative of the Lambert family, he was greeted by Jorge and Talon, who came out to meet him personally.

Daniel began by thanking the Thorpe family for saving Carole’s life. He then added that if the Thorpes had no intention of caring for Carole, he would take her with him.

“Mr. Lambert, I didn’t expect our first official meeting to be about Carole,” Talon said with a smile, extending his right hand toward Daniel. “In fact, our families could have be rted through marriage.”

Daniel nced at Talon indifferently, showing no interest in shaking hands.

“Mr. Thorpe, you must be joking. My brother-inw has always been Kaiden,” Daniel said, shaking his head with a smile. “Your son Erick simply doesn’t meet the Lambert family’s standards for a son-inw.” Erick didn’t deserve Ellie.

Just looking at Erick made Daniel ufortable and dissatisfied.

Talon’s expression darkened immediately, and he retorted, “Carole deceived us with this bone marrow match. Shouldn’t your family take responsibility for not raising Carole properly?”
