?Chapter 945:
The man beside him leaned in and asked, “What do you mean by ‘looked after’? Tell me more.”
Soon, more people learned that Edwin had once been pressured into drinking by Katharine because of Ellie. The young men from affluent families present were visibly shaken.
“Mrs. Thorpe, how have you been keeping?” asked a woman in her early fifties, smiling kindly as she looked at Ellie’s belly.
“I’ve been well, thank you,” Ellie replied with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Katharine nced at Ellie’s belly and remarked, “Once her baby is born, it’ll be just a year younger than your grandson. I hope he’ll look after our family’s little one in the future!”
The woman quickly responded, “Of course, Miss Lambert. They will surely get along wonderfully!”
Those nearby were surprised to hear this exchange.
Ellie’s baby was still six months away from being born. Katharine was alreadyying the groundwork for strong rtionships for the unborn child.
Whenever Katharine spoke of Ellie’s baby, she always referred to it as “our family’s little one.” It was clear that the Lambert family ced great importance on the baby in Ellie’s belly.
The baby’s father was Kaiden, and its godmother was Baylee, the future wife of Hill family patriarch Marvin.
Even before birth, the child already had support from three influential ns: the Thorpe family, the Lambert family, and the Hill family!
All of a sudden, the cheerful atmosphere disappeared. Carole had shown up in her new Dior dress.
“Hey, Katharine and Ellie! I haven’t seen you in ages!” Carole greeted Katharine and Ellie as soon as she spotted them.
“Carole.”
Katharine’s smile remained unchanged, but the warmth in her eyes had vanished. Almost instinctively, she positioned herself slightly in front of Ellie.
Carole, observant as ever, didn’t miss this subtle gesture. She felt a sense of irony. Her sister, who had lived with her for over a decade, was now on alert against her!
“Did youe here with the Lamberts today, Carole?” someone asked curiously. Given her position and status, Carole wasn’t supposed to have received an invitation.
Upon hearing this, Carole shook her head and exined with a smile, “I’m here representing Jorge. He’s unwell, so I’vee to contribute to the charity on his behalf, as a gesture of support.”
Upon hearing this, nearly everyone turned their gaze toward Ellie simultaneously. The room fell silent for a moment, the atmosphere tense, with most guests eager for some drama.
From what Ellie understood, it was widely rumored that Jorge favored Carole and wished for her to be his daughter-inw. This wasn’t just gossip. The pair of jade bracelets symbolized Jorge’s intentions clearly.
Carole was openly challenging her!
“Carole, there are several eligible, unmarried young men in the Thorpe family. Isn’t Erick around your age?” Katharine remarked. “Since Jorge sees potential between you two, it could be quite promising.”
