?Chapter 899:
“Ellie, why don’t you give it a try too?” Erick suddenly remarked, his eyes flicking to Ellie’s t belly. “Everyone at the Thorpes’ house has been tested to see if they match Brisa’s bone marrow. Even unrted people have a chance.”
Kaiden shot him a cold re. “Ellie is pregnant. How dare you suggest that she undergo this!”
Erick shivered. “I just thought she might have a chance of being a match for Brisa’s bone marrow. Grandpa, wouldn’t you agree?” Though unlikely, if Ellie were a match, donating would mean putting the unborn baby at risk. The thought filled Erick with a twisted sense of satisfaction.
Jorge briefly considered agreeing with Erick, but Kaiden’s intense gaze changed his mind instantly. He stayed silent, casting a reproachful nce at Erick. His partially paralyzed face appeared even sterner because of the expression.
The chances of Ellie being a sessful bone marrow match for Brisa were slim—perhaps even less than the chance of her unborn child being a match.
Talon and Genesis quickly defended their son Erick, praising his eagerness to help save Brisa. Kaiden took Ellie’s hand and led her to the matching sampling room. At the Thorpes’ house, everyone was ustomed to Kaiden’s protectiveness, as if he might whisk Ellie away at any moment.
“Your mom is really sick. Why didn’t Jorge take her to the hospital?” Ellie asked quietly as they walked.
“To the public eye, Brisa has been considered dead for years,” Kaiden replied.
He understood Jorge well. Jorge would never do anything that could bring embarrassment upon himself. Even if Brisa were taken to the hospital, he would ensure everything was handled with extreme discretion to prevent any news from leaking out.
On the other side of a fabric partition, the doctor drew Kaiden’s blood. Sitting outside, Ellie noticed Brisa’s medical records and test results on the doctor’s desk. Brisa’s condition was stable for now, and she was managing with chemotherapy.
After Kaiden finished giving blood and received updates on Brisa’s condition, he prepared to leave.

“Mr. Thorpe, are you leaving already?” The elderly butler, acting on Jorge’s instructions, stopped him.
Kaiden nced at Jorge and chose not to answer. Taking Ellie’s hand, he left without another word. He wasn’t a doctor, so there was no reason for him to stay.
Jorge desperately wanted Kaiden to remain at the Thorpes’ house to counter Talon, which would give him an advantage. But Kaiden refused toply.
The grounds of the Thorpes’ house were paved with bluestone, making it impossible for cars to enter; everyone had to walk in and out. Kaiden dismissed the servants, took Ellie’s hand, and led her outside.
“What are you staring at?” Kaiden asked, ncing sideways at her.
During their walk, Ellie had been quietly studying him.
People typically felt sorrowful when their mother was ill. However, Kaiden’s past experiences were far from the norm, and Ellie couldn’t decipher his feelings.
