?Chapter 898:
“You… Why are you rushing like this?” Ellie was taken aback.
Seeing her standing there unharmed, Kaiden breathed a sigh of relief and gave her a helpless look. “What’s the matter?”
She suddenly realized that he was afraid something bad had happened to her.
Ellie lifted her dress up to her waist. “Look!”
Kaiden’s eyes traveled down from Ellie’s face. His gaze was intense as it lingered on her ckce-trimmed panties. He raised an eyebrow.
“Hey! What are you staring at?” Ellie red at him.
“Didn’t you tell me to look?” Kaiden responded innocently.
Ellie approached and ced hisrge hand on her belly. “Can you feel it? The baby’s grown a bit.”
Even without Ellie mentioning it, Kaiden sensed the change in her body as soon as he touched her. The bump was so slight that he couldn’t notice it straight on. Kaiden’s eyes softened involuntarily, and a smile spread across his face.
Secondster, his warm hand moved up to rest on her waist.
“But you’re slimmer.”
“I’ll gain the weightter.” She shrugged off hisment, gazing happily at her belly.
Kaiden gripped her waist with both hands, then suddenly knelt on one knee and leaned over to gently kiss her belly.
Ellie felt a shiver run down her spine. The ambiance grew even more romantic.
Just then, there was a sharp knock on the door.
Kaiden smoothed down Ellie’s dress and straightened it. He took her hand and led her out of the bathroom before going to answer the door. For pregnant women, wet areas like bathrooms posed a risk as they could easily slip there.
“Mr. Thorpe, your mother is unwell,” Cayson announced solemnly at the door.
Ellie approached and inquired, “What’s wrong?”
If it had been amon illness, Cayson wouldn’t have looked so grim.
“She has been diagnosed with leukemia.”
En route to the Thorpes’ house, Kaiden phoned Bruce to cancel their meeting.
Ellie had nned to visit the studio today to discuss character styling for a magazine cover, but now she had to cancel. Jorge had once faced a close call in the ICU, which made him value life more than anyone. Upon returning to the Thorpes’ house, he invested millions to convert a nearly 100-square-meter room into a fully equipped emergency room, parable to a hospital. Ironically, before he could use it himself, Brisa was the one who needed it first.
“The best treatment option for your mother now is a bone marrow transnt,” the doctor informed Kaiden. “As her direct family, Mr. Thorpe, you have a higher chance of being a match for her.” Jorge, nervously holding a cane, gazed at Brisa lying in bed.
Once gentle and beautiful, Brisa now looked pale, thin, and worn out. Jorge trusted only his wife now. Kaiden only listened to him when Brisa was alive, and for that reason, Jorge feared her potential death more than anyone.
