?Chapter 876:
When Ellie arrived at the hospital, she found out Kristopher had already been moved. Feeling a deep sense of loss, Ellie couldn’t shake off the feeling that Kristopher’s transfer was a way to avoid her.
She turned and decided to visit Carole.
Ellie waited in the hallway for a bit until Carole returned from getting checked out. The moment Carole saw Ellie, her eyes zed with intense jealousy and resentment. Had her body not been covered in casts and bandages, she would have charged at Ellie.
Then, catching sight of Kaiden’s icy stare, Carole realized she’d lost herposure. But it was already toote to pretend otherwise.
“You’re enjoying your days, aren’t you?” Carole snapped. She averted her gaze, not daring to look at Kaiden. Instead, she just red at Ellie.
Carole hadn’t expected that using public opinion against Ellie would backfire when Glenn openly dered Ellie as the Lambert family’s lost daughter! It was Glenn’s clever move to shift the public’s focus and tarnish Carole’s reputation.
“What kind ofpensation are you thinking about?” Ellie asked, her voice cold.
“You wouldn’t give me what I really want,” Carole replied, looking away, trying to appear innocent and pitiful.
“If that’s the case, we’ll stick to the list.” Ellie passed a list to Carole’s caregiver and said, “Glenn prepared this. It costs several million. I think it’ll cover what you need.”
Ellie figured that since Glenn had once shared a roof with Carole, he would have picked out gifts that Carole would like. But to Carole, it seemed like Ellie was just showing off.
Glenn knew that Carole had gotten hurt trying to save Ellie, yet he didn’te to see her after he arrived in Parasti! It felt like Glenn and his siblings, even the Lamberts who used to be friendly, had turned their backs on her, treating her like she was nothing.
And now, Ellie was bringing her something from Glenn, as if to say her brother was now closer to Ellie than to her.
Carole felt a tightness in her chest, her anger bubbling up. Once Ellie was gone, she snatched the list from the caregiver. The items were nice, sure, but not a single one was something she liked. It dawned on her that Glenn and the others never really understood her. They saw her as an outsider.

Swallowed by her growing resentment, Carole made a call. “Mr. Thorpe, are you still open to working together?”
