?Chapter 874:
The post sent shockwaves through the elite circles.
That evening, Ellie’s phone was flooded with messages.
Everyone was celebrating her newfound family, their texts filled with surprise and curiosity.
“What’s that you’re scrolling through?” Kaiden, fresh from the shower, emerged. “Don’t bother with the online chatter. If you don’t want Carole to return to the country, she won’t.”
A chill crept into Kaiden’s gaze as he remembered their conversation with Carole in the hospital room being posted online.
“I didn’t scroll through the news about her.”
Ellie set her phone down, wrapped her arms around Kaiden’s neck, and offered a contented smile.
“I’m just really happy at the moment! I have my loving family, our baby, and you by my side.” As she spoke, Ellie’s smile dimmed. “I just wish Kristopher were well.”
“Honey, Kristopher refused your visit to him precisely because he wanted things to end this way between the two of you. You shouldn’t feel guilty,” Kaidenforted her.
He kept his dark thoughts to himself: If Kristopher were well, he wouldn’t have ended things this way. “Time to sleep,” he urged.
Shaking her head, Ellie said, “I can’t fall asleep.”
Without hesitation, Kaiden scooped Ellie up,id her gently on the bed, andy down beside her.
“You should get some rest.”
He knew that she hadn’t slept well the previous night.
Ellie lifted her head from his arms and teased, “Aren’t you supposed to coax me into sleeping?”
Kaiden tutted and nted a firm kiss on Ellie’s cheek.

“If it weren’t for the fact that you’re expecting, I’d have another way to help you sleep,” he said.
Ellie was momentarily at a loss for words. Was he hinting at those not-so-innocent methods?
