?Chapter 861:
In hindsight, Ellie might have been better off not saying that; it only seemed to make things worse, as if she was intentionally trying to upset Carole.
Yet, in the room, it was only Ellie, Carole, and Kaiden.
Kaiden seemed unfazed by Ellie’s sarcastic words directed at Carole.
He went on to pour a cup of warm water for Ellie and gently handed it to her.
His attentiveness towards Ellie bothered Carole a bit.
“Ellie, I heard that you are pregnant?” Carole asked, finally forcing a smile. “I guess my timing was perfect yesterday. Pregnant women are vulnerable to harm, right?”
Her words carried a hidden threat, as if reminding them of her lifesaving favor.
However, what Carole said was true.
Pregnant women and their unborn children were indeed very vulnerable.
“Kaiden mentioned you wanted to go back home.” Ellie got straight to the point.
“Yes!”
Carole’s face lit up with hope. “And what’s waiting for you back home?” Ellie asked in a rxed tone, appearing very approachable.
“It’s where I belong. My family and friends are there,” Carole responded, sounding rather distressed. “Ellie, I really don’t want to be stuck in a foreign country by myself.” Carole could have been more convincing if she hadn’t nced at Kaiden without realizing it.
“You’re free to go back home, but you can’t set foot in Critport. Can you ept that?”
Ellie had barely started speaking when Carole’s “thank you” died on her lips, her smile freezing.
“I can’t set foot in Critport… What does that mean?”
“It means exactly what I said.”
At those words, Carole’s expression turned serious.

Critport was where the nation’s high-profile social scene thrived, and it was where Kaiden mainly engaged in activities!
Being banned from Critport made Carole wonder what the point was in even trying to go back.
Ellie’s silent gaze was devoid of emotion, yet it somehow conveyed a sense of mockery to Carole.
“Kaiden…” Carole turned to Kaiden, seeking his support.
“I’m staying out of this,” Kaiden replied.
Ellie set her ss down, making it clear she wasn’t nning to linger.
“Miss Lambert, your assistance has been invaluable. Why not reconsider your conditions? Living overseas could actually boost your career. Are you after money or ess to the fashion world? I believe these would serve you better.” To Ellie, Carole had no right to try to take her man away.
“I don’t want these!”
Upon hearing that, Carole clenched the sheet in her unharmed hand.
