That was when Ellie and Kaiden walked in.
Carole’s smile brightened significantly at the sight of them. She joyfully eximed, “Kaiden, Ellie!”
The two friends of Carole were puzzled by their rtionship, so they turned and nced over.
“Miss Gordon, you’re here for Carole too?” They hadn’t seen Ellie as someone close to Carole.
Before Ellie could respond, Carole quickly interjected, “Ellie was the one in the car that day.”
“WOW!”
“What a small world!”
Carole’s simple exnation convinced them that she had indeed saved Ellie. They were about to speak to Ellie when Kaiden’s stern gaze met theirs, stopping them in their tracks.
“Hi there, this is my husband. We’vee to see Miss Lambert.” After introducing Kaiden, Ellie asked, “Can we have a moment alone with Miss Lambert? Would that be okay?”
“Absolutely! Yes, of course!”
It seemed as though Ellie’s husband was silently urging them to leave with just his gaze!
When Carole let it slip that she was hurt, she made it a point to have her friendse over. She aimed to talk to Ellie while they were around. This meant Ellie couldn’t turn her down. Yet, just like that, Ellie managed to send her friends away!
“Ellie, seeing you safe really puts my mind at ease!” Carole kept her cool, showing no signs of being upset.
Just as Ellie was about to respond, she felt a wave of nausea hit her.

Before she knew it, Kaiden was whisking Ellie off to the bathroom.
Carole’s smile vanished, leaving her looking shocked and pale.
Was Ellie insinuating that she made her feel sick?
After throwing up and rinsing her mouth, Ellie felt nauseous again upon seeing Carole.
“Miss Lambert, I am feeling unwell, but it’s not because of you. I hope you understand it was just a physical reaction.”
