    Jorge thought the best solution was to have Kaiden return andpete with Talon. This way, he would always have someone to take care of him.


    “Mr. Thorpe, your father wishes for you toe back and live with us, hoping we can all get along,” the old butler conveyed Jorge’s desire.


    “In fact, he wants me back just to y off against Talon, right?” Kaiden saw right through Jorge’s intentions.


    The old butler felt awkward for a moment.


    “Frankly, I couldn’t care less if you’re alive or not, Jorge,” Kaiden stated bluntly. The butler quickly went to fetch some medicine for Jorge, who was fuming and struggling to breathe.


    Kaiden was about to leave, but Jorge was adamant about having him sign the agreement first.


    Brisa, learning of Kaiden’s actions, reprimanded him for upsetting Jorge again. When Ellie left the Thorpes’ house, she was still puzzled over Jorge’s motives.


    “Has illness changed Jorge, or is he feeling guilty all of a sudden?”


    “He doesn’t have it in him to feel guilty,” Kaiden knew Jorge inside and out.


    Jorge insisted on giving Kaiden the shares because he hoped it would make Kaiden indebted to him, providing him a sense of security.


    But to Kaiden, it didn’t really make a difference whether he epted them or not.


    In his view, whether Jorge was alive or not did not concern him in the slightest.


    When Ellie sensed Kaiden was done discussing the Thorpe family, she shifted the conversation.


    “Has Carole messaged you today?” she asked.


    Kaiden looked up. “Has Kristophere to visit you?”


    “No!” Ellie replied quickly.

    Kristopher didn’t visit her often, unlike Carole, who messaged Kaiden daily as if following a routine. Kaiden’s brow furrowed.


    Ellie mentioned that she hadn’t seen Kristopher recently, and since they had just cleared the air between them, she had no reason to lie.


    Yet, Kaiden’s investigation revealed that Kristopher had been around the ces Ellie frequented.


    Was Kristopher following her?


    “I’ve told you that I hadn’t seen Kristophertely, but what’s happening between you and Carole?” Ellie asked him boldly, without a hint of hesitation.


    Kaiden, momentarily at a loss for words, showed her his phone.


    In her recent message, Carole exined that she had been feeling unwell recently and was missing her family and friends back home.


    However, Kaiden remained silent on all of Carole’s messages, not answering any of them.


    Ellie cast a fleeting nce in Kaiden’s direction.
