?Chapter 782:
Brisa thought she was being sneaky, but the house was so quiet that Ellie overheard every word she said.
In truth, neither Ellie nor Kaiden were actively using contraception, nor were they aiming for a pregnancy. They were quite nonchnt about the matter. If there were condoms at hand, they would use them. If not, they would proceed without. However, during eighty percent of their intimate encounters, Kaiden would take the initiative to wear one.
“Did you hear that? Your mother called you old,” Ellie said, holding her ankles and resting her chin on her knees. She shot him a soft, teasing smile.
Kaiden had just finished showering, so he was wearing only a bathrobe, loosely tied at the waist. He untied the knot effortlessly as he approached the bed. He said nothing, but his dark expression made it clear what was on his mind. Ellie suddenly realized she had set herself up once again. She had inadvertently provoked him while they were alone in the bedroom, which could lead to a severe retaliation from him.
“You know what, never mind,” she said hastily. “You’re only twenty-eight years old, not even thirty! You’re definitely young.”
But Kaiden was already slipping off his bathrobe and tossing it aside. He stood at the edge of the bed, grabbed both of Ellie’s ankles, and yanked her toward him.
“Ah!” Her reaction was one of surprise; his actions were bold and sudden, pletely catching her off guard.
“Go on, then,” Kaiden said as he loomed over her, palming her nape to bring her face closer to his.
“Go on with what?” Ellie asked warily.
“Go on coaxing me,” he whispered. “See if you can convince me to spare you for once.”
“I’m not good at coaxing people,” Ellie said, bracing herself on her elbows to keep her bnce.
For a moment, Kaiden just stared at her without saying anything. She considered her options, then reached for his ring finger. She yed with the ring, twisting it around his digit while smiling up at him.

Then, abruptly, she pulled it off his finger. Ellie leaned back with a coy smile. “Loving your wife is a virtue, Mr. Thorpe. How can you ask me to coax you into action?”
“Because I’m not a virtuous man,” Kaiden replied without batting an eye. “I’m a jerk.”
Ellie blinked at him in bewilderment.
“When we first got married,” he reminded her, “you called your friend and described me with those exact words.”
Ellie’s jaw dropped in shock. That was a long time ago!
“Something must be wrong with your memory. I never said such a thing,” she said, unwilling to admit it.
“Is that so?” Kaiden adjusted his position, seemingly unbothered by her response. He didn’t care whether he was seen as a good man or not. The only thing that mattered was that the woman under him was his—and only his.
