    Ellie chatted with Brisa for a while before Kaiden finally returned home. When Brisa saw her son again after so long, all the guilt she had felt thest time they met at the hospital seemed to vanish. Brisa began chatting with Kaiden happily.


    Seeing that, Ellie finally understood the reason for Kaiden’s coldness toward Brisa. It wasn’t just Brisa’s heartbreaking past actions that had driven her away from Kaiden, but also her very short memory. Because of this, it was both impossible to hold a grudge against her or resolve the issue.


    If Kaiden decided to hold grudges toward Brisa for her past actions, Brisa would feel that Kaiden hated her for no reason. This would only furtherplicate the situation.


    “Your mother said you had something to discuss with her. Are you nning to inform her about Jorge’s illness?” Ellie whispered to Kaiden when Brisa was distracted.


    “I lied to her,” Kaiden said honestly.


    Ellie was momentarily stunned. “Then what are you going to tell herter?” she asked in confusion.


    “We’ll see,” Kaiden replied, unfazed.


    Ellie also agreed that they shouldn’t tell Brisa about Jorge’s illness, as it might upset her.


    Kaiden really had nothing to discuss with his mother. Since Ellie and Brisa seemed to get along well when he came back, he decided to leave the two women together. So, he returned to his study to continue working.


    “Ellie, do you know why Kaiden called me here?” Brisa inquired.


    Ellie thought quickly and pointed to the small building next door. “Omiros is preparing for his college entrance exams next week. Kaiden invited you to stay for a few days so you can meet him.”


    “Omiros has really grown that much? It’s true I haven’t seen him in years.” Brisa seemed genuinely confused. “But didn’t Kaiden say he wanted to talk about his father?” she asked, puzzled.

    Ellie took the old woman’s hand and, with a feigned yful reproach, said, “Mom, would you havee if it wasn’t for something about Jorge?”


    Brisa had to admit that Ellie was right. She wouldn’t havee if it wasn’t about Jorge.


    Ellie’s words made Brisa realize how much she had been pulling away from her family. So, she agreed to stay a few days.


    Later that night, Ellie went to meet Kaiden in the study and told him the excuse she hade up with to make Brisa stay for a few more days. Kaiden was surprisingly amused upon hearing it.


    “Well, I must say, you have a true talent for lies,” Kaiden joked.


    Ellie sat up in bed and gave Kaiden a displeased look. “What do you mean by that?” she asked curtly.
