Chapter 764

    ?Chapter 764:

The reporter was taken aback for a moment but managed to regain hisposure.

“‘Miss Gordon, where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire. Mr. Thorpe hasn’t spoken out about this, has he? Doesn’t that seem like he’s admitting to something, or perhaps it’s a sign of guilt?”

“Rumors end with smart people. I believe in my husband,” Ellie answered, pausing for a briefugh. “Since when did reporters start shaping public opinion based on hearsay instead of solid evidence and facts? You’d have me thinking you were more interested in gossip than news if I hadn’t seen your press badge.” The fundamental rule of journalism is to report the truth.

The reporter, now embarrassed and at a loss for words, was interrupted by someone pushing through the crowd.

    “Look, it’s Kaiden!” someone shouted.

Ellie, caught off guard by his arrival, initially wished he would leave quickly but thenughed at herself for such a silly thought.

Susanna discreetly moved out of the way.

“Are you okay?” Kaiden immediately noticed something was off with Ellie and wrapped her in his arms.

“I twisted my ankle,” she admitted.

The questions that were once aimed at Ellie were now thrown at Kaiden.

He didn’t say a word, but his eyes swept over the crowd coldly as he asked, “Who hurt her?”

    The reporters exchanged nces.

Those closest to Ellie instinctively moved back, denying they had anything to do with it, yet unsure if their eagerness to get close to Ellie had identally caused her any harm.

They couldn’t own up to it, even if it was the truth.

Kaiden had nned to pick Ellie up after her ss but got held up at work. He never imagined he’d walk into such chaos.

He picked up Ellie with ease. She let out a startled yelp and clung to him, scared she might slip.

“Mr. Thorpe, what do you have to say about the usations against you?”

“Step aside!” Kaiden didn’t let the reporter finish. “If you’ve got proof, bring it to me, not to my wife.”

Daniel quickly pushed through the crowd, allowing Kaiden to follow behind him and walk away with Ellie in his arms.

The reporters tried to follow but were stopped by two bodyguards who seemed to appear from nowhere.

A few reporters tried to get around from a different angle, but Daniel blocked them.

“Excuse me,” one reporter said. “Seeking the truth is our job as reporters!”

“Or is ‘seeking the truth’ just a cover for your harassment?” Daniel scoffed coldly. “You almost made Miss Gordon fall down the stairs today. If something had happened to her, do you know who would be in trouble?”
