?Chapter 706:
Just as Quincy was about to reply, the door to the lounge cracked open. A figure appeared at the doorway, turning back to address someone inside.
“Even without my parents’ guidance and support, I managed to grow up safely and secured my ce in the Hill family. Grandfather, do you really think you can still control me?” Marvin’s tone was cold.
Shelton, visibly upset, retorted, “Marvin, I had no intention of meddling in your love life, but with all the notable women in Critport, why insist on choosing a girl from the Curtis family?”
“It has to be her!”
Baylee was taken aback, her heart racing at the sound of those words. Before she could react, the door swung wide open. There she was, meeting the intense stare of dark eyes that seemed to grow warmer upon seeing her.
“Baylee, why are you here?” Marvin inquired, his eyes flickering with surprise at the sight of Quincy standing beside her. His expression darkened again.
“Um, I came to see you,” Baylee stammered, her thoughts still echoing his earlier deration.
With a smile, Marvin yfully tousled Baylee’s hair.
He then turned to Quincy, saying, “Grandfather expects you inside. Go in.”
Quincy pressed his lips together, searching for any hint of difort in Baylee at Marvin’s affection. But there was none. Absolutely none. Baylee seemed to wee Marvin’s affection as if it was the most natural thing in the world!
Quincy felt a chill, as if his heart had sunk into a deep, thorny abyss. The pain was sharp and prating.
Just as he was about to respond, Marvin stepped in closer, shielding Baylee from Quincy’s view, effectively cutting off any further exchange.
“Quincy, were you about to say something to your future cousin-inw?”

Struck as if by a physical blow, Quincy entered the lounge, closing the door behind him.
“I am not going to be his future cousin-inw. Marvin, you’re spouting nonsense!” Baylee looked visibly ufortable, her face twisted in awkwardness.
Marvin, unconcerned, asked, “How did you get here? Has anyone been giving you a hard time?”
“Eh, no,” Baylee answered, caught off guard by his immediate concern for her well-being.
He sounded like he was ready to get revenge for her at a moment’s notice. Then Baylee recalled that the Rollins and Hill families had actually suffered some setbacks because of her. Her heart raced uncontrobly.
His actions and words were the final blow to her patience.
“Marvin!” Baylee stopped him out of the blue.
Before Marvin had the chance to question her, Baylee guided him into a nearby hallway and quickly pressed him against the wall.
Marvin was momentarily surprised but then, wearing a smile, he inquired, “What’s the matter?”
