    How Baylee had gotten in touch with the Lambert family remained a mystery. Observing Susanna standing there, radiating confidence like a proud rooster, both spirited and vulnerable, yet supported by the Lambert family, those youngdies withdrew their intentions, no longer daring to provoke.


    “Why did the Lambert family suddenly decide to join us? They’re not usually seen at our social gatherings,” someone wondered.


    “Who knows?”


    “Aphrodite, where’s Carole?”


    Aphrodite’s expression shifted slightly as she nced at Ellie and Baylee, her eyes filled with dislike and fear. Why wasn’t Carole here? She had been secretly shipped off overseas!


    Aphrodite was stunned that Ellie had not only stolen her best friend’s man but now even her own family members were supporting Ellie!


    “Did you see how the Lambert siblings can’t seem to take their eyes off me? It’s like they are glued to me,” Ellie murmured to Baylee.


    Baylee stayed calm and replied, “Really?”


    Susanna smiled. “It’s because Ellie is stunning! And Daniel nced over at Baylee a couple of times too, because she’s equally gorgeous!”


    Ellie and Baylee were both taken aback, at a loss for words.


    Katharine and Daniel, on behalf of the Lambert family, proceeded to engage with other notable families and their heirs.


    “What’s with the gloomy look all of a sudden?” Katharine asked as they walked.


    “I’m trying to figure out how Kaidennded such a good catch, getting married to our sister when none of us were around,” Daniel whispered. “And she’s just twenty-one!”


    Katharine responded with a hint of sarcasm, “Well, our sister is twenty-one and owns her own ind and helicopter. And what about you? You’re twenty-eight and still single!”

    “Come on, I was talking about our sister, Katharine.”


    “Getting married early isn’t that bad. If Kaiden proves to be unworthy of Ellie, an early marriage and subsequent divorce could provide a fresh start.”


    “Um, perhaps we should save such discussions for home. Kaiden might not take it well.”


    Meanwhile, Ellie, Baylee, and Susanna huddled in a corner to chat. Out of the blue, they heard amotioning from the lounge area, sounding like something crashing to the floor. Baylee’s face tensed as she turned toward the noise.


    Before Ellie could inquire, they overheard two people murmuring to each other as they walked by.


    “Marvin has lost it, cutting off several big deals with the Rollins family and ending all projects with the Watts family because of a woman.”


    “It’s no surprise the head of the family is furious.”


    Instantly, a suspicion crept into Ellie’s mind as she nced at Baylee. A woman, the Rollins family, the Watts family… This might well have something to do with Baylee’s ident!
