Chapter 679

    ?Chapter 679:

“Marvin Hill?” The surprise was evident even in the director’s voice.

Marvin, the eldest son of the Hill family, carried a name that held weight, a legacy well-known even when Kaiden was considered an outcast in the Thorpe family.

Carole’s expression shifted slightly, her hand instinctively balling into a fist as she suppressed the fear inside. Baylee… What business did she have getting involved with Marvin, that madman?

Ellie wanted everyone to know that Baylee wasn’t someone who could be easily bullied, even in the face of the Curtis family’s downfall. Not just Ellie, but Marvin also stood by Baylee! Even if Baylee hadn’t nned on epting Marvin, it was no big deal to use her admirer’s influence to intimidate others!

    Katharine couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Why are youughing, Miss Lambert?” Ellie asked, genuinely confused.

“I’mughing because you’re so talented and amazing, your best friend is amazing, and even the friends she makes are not bad.”

Silence fell over the group. Ellie was praised as “amazing,” while Marvin was simply deemed “not bad.” Why did it seem like Katharine favored Ellie so much?

With Baylee still unconscious, the rest gradually left.

    “Darrell!” Ellie called after him.

Darrell, burdened by the incident with the photograph and his role as the scapegoat, felt a deep-seated guilt towards Ellie. He paused but remained silent.

Ellie closed the distance and softly asked, “Do you have anything to do with Baylee’s ident?”

Darrell’s reaction was quick, like a startled cat puffing up its fur, immediately bing defensive. “You didn’t believe me when I said I wasn’t behind the photo! And now you’re trying to me me for Baylee’s ident too?”

“Alright then. I won’t keep you any longer.”

Ellie was just testing Darrell; his response almost convinced her of his innocence.

Yet, when Darrell mentioned “Baylee,” Carole turned her attention their way. “Ellie, dragging Darrell into this because of a personal issue isn’t right, especially when Baylee’s situation was just an ident.”

After receiving a supportive nce from Carole, Darrell turned on his heel and departed.

    Carole’s expression became tense.

“How are you so sure it was an ident?” Ellie asked, maintaining a rxed demeanor.

“Being bitten by a snake sounds idental, doesn’t it? Is it even possible to direct a snake?” Carole shot back.

“Garfield discovered a powder among the rocks that lures snakes.”

“Is that even a thing?” Carole pretended to be shocked, but inside, she felt uneasy. It was unlucky that Baylee was discovered too soon; otherwise, the powder would have been washed away by the sea!

Kaiden and Katharine came over upon hearing their conversation.
