Chapter 672

    ?Chapter 672:

Ellie and Baylee veered off to the side, their voices hushed in conversation.

“Doesn’t Katharine seem a bit too frosty towards Carole?” Baylee murmured.

Ellie nodded knowingly. “Daniel’s attitude toward Carole isn’t much warmer either. She’s not part of the main Lambert lineage; she’s from one of the branches, more like a distant cousin.”

Being relegated to a branch suggested a distant connection.

“No wonder,” Baylee rolled her eyes. “Carole struts around like she’s the main attraction, parading as Miss Lambert.”

The Lambert family tree had long branched out, but only the main trunk thrived. Others had be peripheral.

Baylee had traveled light. Her luggage was neatly stacked in the courtyard. She then soaked herself in the picturesque seascape.

“Miss Curtis, Katharine would like a word with you.” A servant approached her. “This… This is your grandmother?”

Baylee’s surprise was palpable as she gazed at the old photograph on Katharine’s phone.

“Yes,” Katharine confirmed, her tone tinged with nostalgia. “Quite the resemnce to Miss Gordon, wouldn’t you say?”

Truly, the simrities were striking. It was more than just a resemnce. The woman in the photograph, in her early thirties, despite the low resolution, disyed delicate features remarkably akin to Ellie!

The primary differencey in their auras. While Ellie exuded an aura of icy elegance, this woman radiated warmth and grace, like a delicate bloom in a sunlit garden.

“Mind if I smoke?” Katharine inquired politely.

    “Please, be my guest.”

With graceful precision, Katharine extracted a slenderdy’s cigarette, skillfully ced it between her lips, and ignited it.

Many would find women smoking a sign of decadence, but Katharine carried herself with the elegance and sophistication of a woman in control.

“I’ve heard Miss Gordon was adopted into the Gordon family. The Lambert family lost a baby girl twenty years ago, around the same time Miss Gordon was born. I hope Miss Curtis can assist us in obtaining Miss Gordon’s DNA sample.”

The moment Baylee saw the photo, she sensed that a paternity test loomed on the horizon. But she was perplexed.

“Why… Why not approach Ellie directly?”

“What if she’s not the one?” Katharine blew a smoke ring. “We’ve weathered many disappointments over these twenty years. We don’t want Miss Gordon to endure the same heartache.”

If there was a match, it would be cause for celebration. If not, it would be as though it never happened.
