    Marvin’s expression tightened slightly, clearly annoyed by the news.


    “Mr. Thorpe, Mrs. Thorpe, I’ll be going now.” With Baylee not around, Marvin saw no reason to stick around any longer.


    “Mr. Thorpe, let me show you out,” Ellie offered, but before she could finish her sentence, Kaiden looked her way. A look ofzy annoyance crossed his face at the thought of her escorting another man, clearly bothering him in that moment.


    “I’ll take care of it,” Kaiden stated firmly, cing his arm around Ellie’s waist as a sign for her to remain where she was.


    Ellie hadn’t really nned on apanying Marvin to the door. Just as she was about to say something, Marvin said, “Mrs. Thorpe, if you have something to say, just go ahead.” Their discussion was about Baylee, after all.


    “Mr. Hill, are you thinking of going after Baylee?” Ellie asked.


    Marvin replied with a question, “Mrs. Thorpe, are you asking to give your blessing or to object beforehand?”


    Ellie chuckled. “Your actions don’t hinge on my approval, Mr. Hill. While I can’t prevent you from chasing her, if I discover you have bad intentions, or if you make Baylee unhappy in any way, I won’t stand by!”


    Essentially, she was cautioning him.


    Marvin nodded and left.


    The moment Marvin disappeared, Ellie lightly hit Kaiden on the shoulder, showing her irritation. “Hey! Seriously, Kaiden, do you have too much free time that you’re now setting up Marvin and my friend?”


    “Setting them up?” Kaiden sounded puzzled.


    “By inviting Baylee over and then Marvin, aren’t you just giving him a chance?” Ellie raised an eyebrow and continued, “I didn’t know you and Marvin were tight. Mr. Thorpe, looks like you’re pretty popr!”


    “We’re not exactly friends,” Kaiden rified. They were allies, at best. The reason behind today’s invitation was simple. He didn’t want Baylee feeling left out, tagging along with him and Ellie after work. Yes, he was that selfish. Whenever he was swamped with work, he’d ask Baylee to keep Elliepany. But once he was avable, he preferred to have their space to themselves. Marvin was just convenient for what he needed right now. Of course, these were thoughts he had no intention of sharing with Ellie.

    After a brief moment of thought, Ellie looked at Kaiden seriously. “Kaiden, from a guy’s perspective, do you think Marvin actually has feelings for Baylee?”


    Standing close to Ellie, Kaiden could almost touch the softness of her neck if he just reached out. His fingers could even graze her delicate earlobe, sparking a charged and beautiful moment between them. Meanwhile, the servant about to announce dinner was discreetly sent away by Cayson. Such a nice atmosphere couldn’t be disturbed.


    “I’m not setting them up,” Kaiden said without much interest. He didn’t want to get involved in the personal business of others.


    She made her point lightly, but he quickly countered.


    “Kaiden! I’m serious!” Ellie, without realizing, was pulling at his hand, her actions somewhat flirtatious.
