    Demi mattered very little to Ellie, so seeing her downfall didn’t affect her one way or the other. However, she loved the fact that Kaiden prioritized her and always stood up for her.


    Ellie’s gaze drifted to therge French windows that looked out onto the asphalt road. This was the only way that led to the main building. Ellie stared down the road intently and suddenly found herself looking forward to Kaiden’s return from work.


    At sunset, Kaiden’s Maybach rolled to a stop at the end of the Moon Manor’s driveway, but it was not alone. Behind Kaiden’s car was an unfamiliar Bentley. As soon as the Bentley was parked, its driver got out and opened the door to the backseat, revealing a man of understated elegance.


    When not looking directly at someone, he seemed genteel and unassuming, blending into the background. However, once his gaze fell upon someone, it was captivating and intense. To most, it was a sharpness that pierced the soul, like joyously diving into a beautiful rose bush only to meet sharp thorns head-on. Yet, when his eyes met Baylee’s, they softened into a warm, tender pool.


    “Marvin is here too?” Baylee blurted out in surprise.


    Ellie shook her head, just as confused as Baylee. “I have no idea…” This was Kaiden’s territory. No one could enter Moon Manor unless they were invited by Kaiden or Ellie. Clearly, it was not Ellie who invited Marvin, so that meant…


    Baylee narrowed her eyes and immediately retracted the praise she had heaped on Kaiden earlier. If Ellie and Kaiden weren’t already married, she would’ve made it her mission to be the stumbling block in their rtionship!


    “Kaiden, Mr. Hill?” Ellie inquired the second both men entered the house.


    Kaiden replied calmly, “He had an unfinished business deal.”


    Ellie red at him. That was clearly an excuse, and a bad one at that!


    This was the same man who took leave from work every other day. Now he was pretending to be diligent by bringing work home?

    When Kaiden noticed Ellie’s skeptical expression, he decided to throw Marvin under the bus. “He said he wasing to pick someone up.” There was no need to ask who Marvin was here to pick up.


    Flushing awkwardly, Ellie immediately looked at Baylee. Baylee gaped at Marvin, unable to believe her ears. That was absolutely impossible!


    Kaiden handed his coat to a servant and wrapped his arms around Ellie’s waist. Then he leaned in to kiss the corner of her mouth. This kiss was chaste and devoid of any desire. It was akin to an affectionate greeting.


    However, the presence of another person made such intimacy startling for Ellie, causing her heart to nearly leap from her chest. She immediately pushed his face away, guiltily ncing at Baylee. Fortunately, Baylee seemed preupied and didn’t notice their interaction.


    She stood by the couch, her eyes firmly fixed on Marvin.


    “I brought you your clothes.” Marvin had to quickly improvise after Kaiden ruthlessly sold him out.


    He held out the paper bag he was holding to Baylee.
