?Chapter 568:
“Bye-bye!” Turning to Daniel, Ellie said, “Mr. Lambert, Carole was here today.”
“I didn’t invite her,” Daniel rified immediately.
“I know you didn’t mean anything by having her here; I just thought you should know since you’re family.” Daniel acknowledged with a nod. He was about to leave with Susanna when she suddenly became stubborn, insisting on staying longer.
“El! Remember, drinking’s not wise if you’re thinking about kids tonight. Don’t forget to be careful! Alright? I’ve got it all figured out!” Susanna seemed to be seeking approval for her tipsy advice.
Ellie found herself at a loss for words. Who would have thought that sweet, gentle Susanna could be so bold with a few drinks in her?
“I’m sorry, I guess I didn’t teach her well,” Daniel apologized, lifting Susanna onto his shoulder and decisively walking away with her.
With the party winding down and most guests having left, Ellie turned her attention to Kaiden.
“Kaiden, are you alright? Are you able to walk by yourself?”
When he didn’t answer, Ellie lent him a hand to stand.
Kaiden, only then seeming to register Ellie’s presence, suddenly wrapped his arms around her tightly. He drew her close with more force than she expected.
Ellie caught her breath in surprise.
It was then that she really noticed the strong scent of alcohol on him. A cocktail of brandy, champagne, both white and red wine, plus whiskey… All blending together, creating a strong fragrance.
“Ellie, you don’t have faith in me,” he blurted out, sounding hurt.
“When did I ever show ack of trust in you?” Ellie protested, feeling unjustly used.
He didn’t answer her.

“Let’s head home,” Ellie suggested.
Despite having drunk a lot of alcohol, Kaiden moved with surprising steadiness, needing only minimal support from Ellie.
The manager of Heart Ind approached, offering assistance, but Kaiden dismissed him abruptly.
“Stay away from me!” He red at his employee, saying, “I’m with my wife.”
The subordinate was bewildered.
“Boss, I’m a guy. Your wife has nothing to worry about!”
“Thank you, but I’ll handle it myself.” Ellie interjected, trying to ease the awkwardness.
She found that Kaiden appeared tipsy but notpletely out of sorts. When they made it to the parking lot, Kaiden suddenly started walking off-course.
“What’s the matter?” Ellie had a bad feeling.
“I want milk tea.”
“What? Hey, wait…” Ellie was baffled. “But it’s 2 AM. The ces for milk tea are closed.”
