?Chapter 509:
“What?” Marvin responded, puzzled by the unusual request.
“You can’t go upstairs without a marriage certificate!” the manager announced disdainfully. “See, that man over there and Ellie are at the point of squabbling and making up, all because they’re married. Young man, you’ve got to step up your game if you’re trying to win someone’s heart!”
With those words, he swiped his card and ascended the stairs slowly, milk tea in hand.
Marvin, wearing an expression of mild annoyance, nced at Kaiden. He was here for Baylee, yet suddenly, the topic of a marriage certificate was thrown into the mix.
“Mr. Thorpe, I gather Mrs. Thorpe hasn’t forgiven you yet?” Marvin couldn’t help but imply that Kaiden’s effort was in vain.
He believed that it was Kaiden’s failure to resolve things with Ellie that gave Baylee a reason to stay here.
“And what about you? You were taken to the security office, but you haven’t managed to take Baylee with you yet?” Kaiden shot back, irked by the notion that Marvin hadn’t yet removed the so-called third wheel, Baylee.
Despite having worked together before, the two men shared looks of displeasure. Yet, realizing neither of them could get into the dormitory, they both couldn’t help but feel a bit of satisfaction at each other’s predicament.
When Ellie opened the door at the knock, she was greeted by the manager’s cheerful voice.
“Ellie, here’s your milk tea!” he said, beaming. “Your husband sent it.” The mention of “husband” took Ellie aback.
“Kaiden? How… How did you know I’m married?”
“He showed me your marriage certificate!” The managerughed, thinking the whole scenario amusing. “I prevented him from entering the dormitory. But since you’re married, I didn’t refuse his request to deliver this. Here you are. The rest is up to you two.”
“I’m sorry for the inconvenience…” Ellie apologized, feeling guilty about the trouble her personal matters had caused.

“It’s all good!” the manager assured her, then turned to Baylee. “And miss, there’s someone here for you too. But since I stopped Ellie’s husband, I couldn’t exactly let your visitor in without question.”
“Thanks a lot,” Baylee said, already guessing the visitor was Marvin, who had shown up unannounced because she hadn’t answered his calls.
Baylee turned to face Ellie. Their eyes met, sharing a moment of mutual understanding.
Ellie handed Baylee one of the milk teas.
“It’s from your ex-husband. Do you still want to have it?” Baylee asked, a hint of curiosity in her voice. She epted it, albeit hesitantly.
“Might as well drink it. It’s not like I can send it back.”
Ellie decided to ept the drink as if it were from a stranger, sparing herself the hassle of going out for a drink.
Downstairs, Kaiden and Marvin stood, their gazes fixed on the balcony of Room 302. But even after two hours, the women showed no sign of appearing on the balcony.
