Chapter 489

    ?Chapter 489:

On the way back yesterday, Baylee had found it odd. Knowing Marvin’s character, even if he camped out downstairs for three days and nights, the security office shouldn’t have nabbed him as a suspicious person. He could’ve let Marcelo talk to the security guards, verifying his identity beforehand.

Now, it seemed that Marvin had intentionally headed to the security office, not only to trick her into going to collect him but also to engineer a moment for Kaiden to be alone with Ellie.

Unable to extract any information from Baylee, Kaiden exited, dialing Ellie.

“Kaiden!” Baylee halted him. “If you don’t value Ellie, there are plenty of men who would!”

Bruce stood by the alumni dormitory building, witnessing Kaiden descending with a grim expression.

“Go find Ellie’s location!” Kaiden instructed.

Bruce didn’t dare inquire further. “Yes.”

In the library, Ellie nestled into a corner by the window, flipped open herptop, and delved into the data sent from theb.

After a while, someone settled across from her.

She didn’t pay much mind until a cup of coffeended on the table, nudging her way.

“Oh, Howard!” Ellie looked up, surprised, finding Howard there.

“What a coincidence, Ellie!” Howard smiled.

He had the same coffee brand and hoisted his criminalw book, signaling he was there to hit the books.

Ellie expressed her gratitude, eyeing the hot, sugar-freette — her favorite. The cup proudly disyed the letters “Ellie.” Neither spoke further, silently engrossed in their studies.

Now and then, fellow students strolled by, spotting Howard and Ellie. Some were taken aback, curious gazes following them, while others covered their mouths, sharing mischievous giggles.

Word spread quickly about Howard gifting flowers to Ellie, and with the memory of him standing up for her at the school anniversary, the chattering students couldn’t resist spinning their own tales.

Bruce tracked down Ellie in the library, prompting Kaiden to make a beeline for the same spot. However, he hit a roadblock at the library entrance.

“Sir, our library isn’t open to the public. Only those with a campus or alumni card can enter,” exined the library staff.

Kaiden stood there, lost for words.

Passersby shot curious nces his way as he lingered at the entrance.

Feeling a tad embarrassed, Kaiden exited the library and waited in his car for Ellie to emerge.

Around noon, students gradually vacated the library for lunch.

Ellie, thinking of Howard’s coffee, suggested treating him to a meal.

Exiting the library, Ellie immediately sensed something was off. A ck Maybach idled on the nearby asphalt road, its windows sealed shut with one-way ss concealing the interior. Yet, Ellie felt an intense gaze.
