?Chapter 486:
Kaiden had anticipated Ellie’s refusal to ept the apology.
Despite her youth, Ellie was principled. She could overlook ack of talent but not ack of effort. Simrly, breaching a contract was a serious professionalpse in Ellie’s eyes—something she couldn’t overlook.
Carole expected Kaiden’s constion, thinking her words had painted Ellie as unreasonable. Yet, Kaiden’s reaction, orck thereof, puzzled her.
Then it dawned on her.
Kaiden’s aloof demeanor wasn’t exclusive to her; he was distant with everyone. Perhaps he already harbored negative feelings toward Ellie without outwardly disying them.
Baylee returned. She was on the verge of knocking when she noticed that the door was slightly open. A wave of concern washed over her, fearing something might have gone wrong with Ellie. Upon opening the door, Baylee’s worry turned to relief. Ellie was lying on the sofa, busy with her phone.
Just as Baylee was about to speak, she realized something was wrong with Ellie. Ellie didn’t even notice that she had entered. Her face, lit by the glow of the phone, cast uneven shadows, giving her a somewhat lonely appearance.
“Ellie?” Baylee called out gently, not wanting to startle her.
However, Ellie didn’t answer.
Baylee approached swiftly, touching Ellie’s shoulder and calling her name again, gently.
Startled, Ellie looked up from the sofa, appearing as though she had just awakened from a nightmare. Her eyes were wide and tearful, revealing both confusion and fragility, much like a lost child.
Baylee was taken aback by her look. “Ellie, what’s wrong with you?”
Ellie blinked, regaining focus. “When did you return?”
Noticing her own troubled state, Ellie quickly turned off her phone, calmed her emotions, and asked, “Is Marvin’s issue sorted out?”
“Yes, he’s back now,” Baylee answered, her gaze drifting to the corner of the sofa.

Ellie followed her look.
Kaiden had rushed out, leaving his trench coat behind.
“Kaiden was here a moment ago,” Ellie said.
Baylee instantly noticed the hickeys on Ellie’s neck and immediately understood what had happened.
It was clear that Kaiden and Ellie had just made out, but why did Ellie appear so distressed and hurt?
“Are you okay? Did he hurt you?” Baylee asked gently and calmly as she squatted down in front of her.
Ellie’s tension eased as she embraced Baylee and said, “Baylee, I can’t bear to see him anymore.”
Her voice was low and soft, filled with sorrow.
“It’s alright, you don’t have to see him then,” Baylee reassured her, stroking her back gently. “If you don’t want to see him, we’ll make sure you don’t.”
Once Ellie had gone to sleep, Baylee went into the bathroom and opened Twitter on her phone with a serious expression.
Baylee had glimpsed Ellie’s phone on the Twitter app just as she turned it off.
