Chapter 483

    ?Chapter 483:

He understood that Ellie had joined Light for work when she went to Estoqua, but he had no idea that Carole’s partner was also with Light. Carole hadn’t told him, and he hadn’t been interested in probing further.

It seemed like a wless response. He had delegated the matter to his employee without understanding the specifics of the situation and hadn’t bothered to inquire about the identity of the other woman’s partner.

However, Ellie felt unhappy. Once again, she felt wronged but couldn’t confront Kaiden since he wasn’t directly responsible. An instant heaviness settled in her heart.

She tried to rise from Kaiden’sp, but he gripped her tightly once more. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he made it impossible for her to escape his embrace.

Taking a deep breath, Ellie tried her best to calm herself. She inquired, “Kaiden, could you trust me if I told you Carole deliberately broke her contract because she knew I was the styling director for that big show and wanted to cause trouble for me?” Ellie watched Kaiden’s reaction.

He seemed taken aback at first, then furrowed his brow.

Ellie noticed no signs of disgust, me, or uncertainty on his face when he heard the news. He also didn’t seem to regret his assistance in resolving Carole’s professional troubles.

“You don’t believe me,” Ellie said with a bitter smile. Her demeanor turned icy. The warmth from their earlier closeness had vanished. “Kaiden, let go of me.”

“It’s not that I don’t trust you.” Of course, Kaiden wouldn’t let her go.

    “Ellie, it’s just that Carole I know…”

“The Carole you know wouldn’t do that, right?” Ellie cut in, saying, “Remember at your dad’s birthday party? I mentioned that Carole was the one who encouraged Demi to use the champagne tower against me. You didn’t believe it then, either.”

Ellie felt a chilling numbness spread throughout her body and a deep ache in her heart. Her chest felt constricted.

She fiercely resisted, attempting to break free from Kaiden’s grip, as though she found the notion of remaining on hisp intolerable. Her efforts only seemed to encourage him further.

Kaiden leaned in, gently pushing Ellie down onto the sofa, one hand securing her wrists. Yet, his touch remained soft, as if he were trying tofort her.

Ellie red at him, her eyes burning with frustration. After a few moments, she looked away, her expression turning cold and indifferent.

“Ellie, you’re the one who said we should talk,” Kaiden said softly, his voice tinged with patience. “Don’t throw a tantrum, okay?” He gently cupped her chin, guiding her face toward him so their eyes met. He couldn’t stand the thought of her avoiding his gaze.

“I throw a tantrum?” Ellie scoffed, a bitterugh escaping her lips. “Fine, then I’ll throw a tantrum. Kaiden, I want you to dismiss Carole from Harvillston. Will you do that for me?”

If Harvillston overlooked Carole for the position, the fashion world would soon begin to gossip. They would undoubtedly resurrect the old story of her contract breach with Light.

Kaiden looked at Ellie, confused. He couldn’t understand why she had made such a request.

Ellie had turned down a position at Harvillston herself. Why was she now intervening in Carole’s potential hiring?

He couldn’tprehend why Ellie seemed to harbor animosity toward Carole, especially considering their brief interaction.
