?Chapter 462:
Cayson, at a loss, nheless updated Kaiden. “Mr. Thorpe, I just spoke with Mrs. Thorpe and…”
“Who told you to call her?” Kaiden interjected sharply.
Familiar with Kaiden’s disposition, Cayson reported, “She’s at Critport University, staying on campus for now.”
Kaiden rose quickly, his jaw clenched, his gaze on Cayson intense.
Cayson maintained hisposure. He anticipated that Kaiden would react this way, even though Kaiden refused to acknowledge his concern for Ellie.
Without another word, Kaiden picked up a set of car keys and left.
Critport University, recognizing Ellie’s contribution of unpaid lectures, arranged excellent amodations for her.
It was a suite in the alumni guesthouse, ideal for one.
But now, Baylee was there too, in the living room.
“Has Kaiden contacted you?” Baylee inquired, unpacking takeout on the sofa.
She missed the mention of “Cayson.”
“No, the butler from the manor called,” Ellie answered, joining Baylee. “Are you sure it’s alright for you to be here alone? What about Marvin?” Baylee, about to enjoy some barbecue, paused and sighed.
After a moment, she gazed skyward.
“I don’t want to talk about him right now.” Her head throbbed at the thought of Marvin. She had slipped away to Ellie’s without telling Marvin, needing some space from him.
Sensing something amiss, Baylee asked, “Ellie, did you have a dispute with Kaiden? Why else would a married woman stay alone in a university dorm?”
Ellie hesitated before sighing in response.
Baylee raised her hand, signaling her understanding. “Got it, no talking about him. Tonight’s for us girls only, no bothersome men!”
Ellie nodded, tapping her milk tea against Baylee’s wine ss in agreement.

Finishing her work past midnight, she noticed Baylee hadn’t returned to the room. Concerned, Ellie went to the living room, finding it empty except for a half-empty wine ss.
“Baylee?” she called, finding no response. Baylee’s phone rang unanswered on the sofa.
Worried, Ellie hurried outside, her heart pounding.
The university’s dormitory areay silent in the night’s embrace. Ellie walked a short distance, then froze under the re of a streetmp.
A tall man was pinning a woman against themp post, their kiss intense and iming.
The man’s posture radiated possessiveness.
The woman was dressed in a maroon coat. His fingers tucked her curly hair behind her ear, revealing her face. It was Baylee!
Ellie gasped, her hand covering her mouth.
The man, holding Baylee’s face closely, was suddenly met with a sharp p.
