?Chapter 449:
Kaiden obliged and sat back in the wheelchair.
“The surveince footage is here,” announced an attendant, having fetched it with remarkable speed.
Kaiden reviewed the footage on the tablet. When he raised his head, his icy gazended on Demi, chilling her to the core.
“No, it wasn’t me!” Demi blurted out impulsively. But as the undeniable truth of the surveince footage sank in, she quickly shifted her story. “I just lost my bnce. It was an ident. I didn’t mean to hit the table!”
Ellie had been unaware of Demi’s proximity to the champagne tower, as she was out of her line of sight. Now, however, Ellie was convinced that Demi had intended the incident.
Kaiden, on the other hand, was uninterested in Demi’s excuses.
“I’m giving you a chance to apologize,” he said sternly. He pointed to another champagne tower and instructed Demi, “Go stand there and pull the table yourself.”
His demand was not unreasonable. He wanted Demi to understand the potential harm she had nearly caused Ellie.
“No, I can’t!” Demi refused, shaking her head in terror and shielding her face. She feared that the ss could cut her, possibly scarring her face. Then, she tried to shift the me to Ellie. “You weren’t even hurt. You can’t do this to me!” she protested.
Ellie’s response was firm and unyielding. “I haven’t done anything to you.” Though she hadn’t been injured, thanks to Kaiden, she felt no obligation to forgive Demi’s recklessness.
“It was you, Carole!” Demi, in a sudden sh of realization, pointed usingly at Carole. “You told me to do it. It was all your idea!”
Carole feigned innocence. “Miss Gordon, are you losing your mind? Everyone saw that I didn’t even speak to you just now.”
“That’s right!” a guest interjected in support of Carole. “Miss Gordon, you two hardly know each other. Why would you follow her instructions?”
Another chimed in, “using someone like this is like a mad dogshing out. It just doesn’t add up!”

The crowd nodded in agreement. The ongoing feud between Demi and Ellie was well known among their social circle, but Carole and Ellie’s strained rtionship, though influenced by Kaiden, had never escted into public disputes. It seemed that Demi was trying to drag someone down with her in desperation.
Ellie’s expression grew stern, her lips pressed together. She had been focused on Kaiden, but Carole’s interjection brought back memories of their earlier conversation and the mention of a “marriage alliance.” The room buzzed with condemnation.
Kaiden’s imposing presence made the air feel heavy, pressing down on Demi with the expectation of a convincing exnation.
Desperate, Demi turned to the members of the Thorpe family. “Erick, please help me. Talon, Genesis, please…” she pleaded, seeking their support in her moment of crisis.
She strategically ced a hand on her belly. In the past, Talon and Genesis might not have been concerned with her fate, but now the stakes were different. What Demi carried was their future grandchild.
“Kaiden, today is a day for celebration, my father’s birthday. Let’s not have any unpleasantness,” Talon said, attempting to calm the situation. “Let’s keep this matter low-key.”
