?Chapter 448:
The room buzzed with astonishment.
Members of the Thorpe family rushed in, their faces etched with shock. The incident had left them speechless, their expressions empty of any other emotion.
A few insiders, aware of the true situation, appeared particrly distressed. None had anticipated Kaiden’s sudden movement. Ellie, her nerves frayed, clutched Kaiden’s hand. Her voice quivered as she spoke.
“Kaiden, you… How could you suddenly…” she hesitated, wondering why he had stopped pretending.
“Should I just stand by and watch my wife get hurt?” Kaiden retorted. He quickly turned his attention to Ellie, asking with concern, “Are you okay?”
Ellie’s eyes flickered, feeling a warmth in her heart. She took a moment before shaking her head in response. “But so many people saw…”
“Don’t worry about it,” Kaiden reassured her, gently patting her back. He couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle. “Ellie, you almost look like you’re going to cry.” His voice, though loud, was for Ellie’s ears only. “This look of yours, I’ve only seen it in bed,” he teased. Ellie was too overwhelmed to even decide how to react to his inappropriate joke.
“Kaiden, your legs…” Jorge’s voice, aged and trembling, carried a mix of emotions. It was hard to tell if he was shocked, happy, or frightened.
The Talon family members stared intently at Kaiden, as if trying to unravel a mystery.
Kaiden stood up slowly, his eyes scanning the room before resting on a security camera in the upper-right corner. “Bring me the footage from thest ten minutes,” he instructed the staff member who was cleaning up.
Everyone in the room grasped his motive. He was determined to find out who was responsible for the champagne tower’s copse and stand up for Ellie.
“Kaiden! Your legs…” Talon eximed, a mix of shock and skepticism in his voice. “Have you been fooling us this whole time?”
Theo quickly intervened with an exnation, “Mr. Thorpe began rehabilitation after his marriage and only recently showed signs of recovery. That’s why no one was aware of his progress.”
Catching Theo’s cue, Ellie chimed in to support Kaiden, “Yes, that’s exactly what happened.”

Talon and Genesis were skeptical, sensing there was more to the story. They couldn’t, however, disregard their prior knowledge that Kaiden’s legs had been genuinely crippled.
Erick was visibly disturbed, his thoughts racing.
Kaiden’s leg had healed?
How could he nowpare himself to Kaiden, or make Ellie regret her choice?
Demi’s face drained of color as she worried about the surveince footage. She hoped it hadn’t captured her involvement.
Carole was ovee with regret and jealousy. She realized that her actions had led to Kaiden revealing his recovery to protect Ellie, his wife in name only.
The guests remained silent, their internal shock preventing them from whispering in such a tense situation. The only sound was the attendants cleaning up the broken ss.
Theo, continuing the ruse, brought a wheelchair over to Kaiden. “Kaiden, your leg isn’t fully healed. You shouldn’t stand for too long. Sit down quickly.” His eyes subtly conveyed a message—remember, recovery wasn’t instantaneous. Keep up the act.
