    Carole wasn’t particrly familiar with Demi, but she had heard that this woman was carrying Erick’s child. She acknowledged Demi with a nod but had no intention of getting into a conversation.


    “Miss Lambert, seeing Ellie stand beside Kaiden, are you content?” Demi spoke without restraint, taking advantage of theck of bystanders.


    Carole abruptly stopped in her tracks, her gaze sharp as she turned to face Demi. “What do you mean?”


    “I am the real daughter of the Gordon family, as you must have heard,” Demi dered without beating around the bush. “I can tell you don’t like Ellie, and neither do I! As the saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”


    She dangled the bait, suggesting an alliance.


    In this social circle, Carole rarely encountered someone who would openly express their disdain for someone else in such a blunt and uncouth manner. She studied Demi carefully. This heiress, only acknowledged by the Gordon familyst year, fell far short of Ellie in terms of looks, demeanor, and refinement.


    “Miss Gordon, I understand that Ellie and Kaiden are married, and I won’t be a pawn in any attempt to interfere in their marriage.” Carole always carefully chose her words, making sure not to give others any leverage against her.


    Demi decided to push further, raising her chin defiantly. “What if I were to tell you that it wouldn’t be considered inappropriate for you to intervene in their marriage? Do you know why Ellie married Kaiden?”


    Carole hadn’t given much thought to this perspective.


    “Because of a marriage alliance between the Gordon and Thorpe families,” Demi revealed confidently. “But Ellie isn’t of the Gordon bloodline, and technically, she had no right to marry Kaiden!”


    “A marriage alliance…” Carole muttered, her voice trailing off.


    The news had caught herpletely off guard.


    Demi’s satisfied grin grew wider as she saw the shock etched on Carole’s face. “Miss Lambert, do you still see yourself as the other woman? Are you ready to be outyed by someone so cunning?”

    “Why are you telling me this?” Carole quickly regained herposure. “You’re with Erick. We both understand his connection to Kaiden. If I marry into the Thorpe family, the Lamberts will support Kaiden. That can’t be good for you.”


    It didn’t make sense for Demi to be helping her.


    Demi just shrugged. “I can’t stand watching that Ellie enjoy a good life. Isn’t that reason enough?”


    The birthday ceremony then began. Jorge had two sons and a daughter. Today, his daughter was notably absent. She was the family’s outcast, having married young and moved abroad with her husband. She had almost cut all ties with the Thorpes.


    Ellie vaguely recalled that she had been close to Leo, Kaiden’ste brother.


    Erick and his parents took turns offering their congrattions on stage, but Kaiden stayed away.
