    Carole’s face darkened momentarily, but she forced a smile, replying, “Yes, Miss Gordon is very impressive.” She had expected Ellie’s gift to pale inparison to her own, thinking she would choose something less remarkable. But Ellie had surprised her with this hidden talent.


    “Hey, Carole, since you treated Kaiden like your brother, you should call Ellie ‘sister-inw’!” Brisa suddenly remembered that Ellie was now her daughter-inw. Her memory wasn’t the best, so the caretaker had to remind her daily of this fact.


    Carole’s face turned pale as she stammered. She couldn’t bring herself to acknowledge Ellie.


    Ellie watched Carole with a knowing smile.


    Carole, unable to utter the words, bit her silver teeth and continued to gaze at Kaiden, silently begging for his help.


    Considering her rtionship with his brother, Kaiden reassured, “It’s okay not to call her that.”


    If his brother were still alive and married to Carole, they would have referred to Carole as “sister-inw.”

    Seizing the opportunity, Carole followed him. “Kaiden, are you angry with me for siding with your father today?” She hurriedly exined, “I brought on behalf of my family, and he was probably just being polite because of my family. I’ve always been on your side.”


    “I am not angry with you,” Kaiden replied, the crimson me flickering at his fingertips.

    “Carole, Ellie is my wife.”


    “I know that…” Carole responded, feeling frustrated. Why did he have to keep emphasizing it?


    Kaiden remained silent, his gaze fixed on Carole, as if silently studying her. His gaze remained calm yet imposing, and the unspoken message hung heavily in the air. Since he had a wife, hispanion could only be her.


    Carole looked away, her heart stinging with hurt. “Sorry, Kaiden, I wasn’t thoughtful enough.”
