?Chapter 427:
Carole clenched her fists, barely containing her frustration.
“Ellie, the breach with Light wasn’t my doing. I was hoping you could rify that for them.”
Ellie couldn’t help butugh at the absurdity. “Why should I clean up your mess?”
Carole’s face contorted with anger, her inability to retort making her look even more aggrieved.
“Miss Lambert, do you really believe that because I arranged the jewelry for Light, I’m now obligated to rectify your mistakes?” Ellie put down her water ss and leaned back into the sofa, herughter light.
d in a simple linen dress with a morning robe, she radiated a rxed elegance in the evening sunlight, her striking features more pronounced.
“Yet, Miss Lambert, it was you who breached the contract and conspired with the pianist to follow suit. Now you’re trying to shift the me onto me? How does that make sense?”
Ellie’s candid words left little room for interpretation, almost using Carole of facing the consequences of her own actions.
Carole’s demeanor chilled, her earlier cordiality evaporating. “Miss Gordon, I’m not seeking favors from you. I just prefer not to involve Kaiden in this matter.”
Her insinuation was unmistakable: if Ellie didn’t intervene, she would seek Kaiden’s aid.
“Is that so?” Ellie, losing her patience, stood up. “Then I suggest you discuss this with Kaiden yourself.”
She couldn’t stand to see her annoying face!
Ellie started towards the stairs but paused, turning to address Carole once more. “Weren’t you the one who advised me not to trouble Kaiden? Why are you so keen to involve him now?”
“I share a different bond with Kaiden, one you wouldn’t understand,” Carole retorted, standing up and raising her voice.
Ellie didn’t respond and continued upstairs, leaving Carole behind in the room.
Reaching the top of the stairs, Ellie found herself regretting not having Cayson escort Carole out. She wondered if Carole would leave on her own.

Carole stood there, seething with frustration.
How dare Ellie treat her like that?
Cayson appeared discreetly, hesitating. “Miss Lambert, would you like to stay, or…” His unfinished words implied that it was now time for her to leave.
Carole managed a strained smile. “May I wait here for Kaiden? It’s my first time at his house, and it seems inappropriate to leave so abruptly.”
“Of course,” Cayson replied.
In his mind, he found Carole’s unannounced visit somewhat improper, given herck of gifts or courtesies.
In the meantime, a car stopped outside the main building of Moon Manor.
The staff, once used to Kaiden being a workaholic, now observed him returning home on time each day.
Entering the manor, Kaiden immediately felt something was off.
Before he could put his finger on it, he noticed activity in the kitchen.
The light was on, and he heard a woman’s voice.
