?Chapter 420:
While sorting through the gifts, Ellie caught sight of a limited edition handbag—the very one Baylee had wanted to buy but couldn’t find.
Kaiden was busy instructing the housekeeper to arrange the gifts in one of the spare rooms. As he turned around, he saw Ellie cing a leather handbag on the sofa.
He inquired, “Aren’t you going to put that away?”
“No, I’m giving this bag to Baylee tomorrow as a kind of souvenir from my trip.”
It took Ellie a while to realize that Kaiden was staring at her strangely. “What’s wrong?”
Kaiden clicked his tongue in disappointment and plopped down on the sofa, arms crossed over his chest. “Ellie, you didn’t get me a gift.”
Ellie was rendered speechless. Kaiden was right; she hadn’t thought about him on her trip at all.
She quickly salvaged the situation, saying, “I didn’t get one for Omiros either, only for Baylee.”
The implication was that there was no need for Kaiden to be upset.
Kaidenughed incredulously. “Ellie, are you seriouslyparing me to Omiros?”
Come on! A set of exam prep books for Omiros would’ve been fine!
Ellie didn’t know what to say.
One false move and she might unwittingly admit to her guilt! She racked her brains, checking her mental inventory of all the things that Light had sent her. Suddenly, she stopped a servant carrying a rack of haute couture pieces, picking out a red men’s jacket with a white shirt inside.
Light’s style was alwaysvish and opulent. Even their men’s haute couture was boldly colored, which wasn’t exactly Kaiden’s taste. The white shirt was their most basic piece, but it was made of excellent fabric and was tailored to perfection—luxurious yet understated.
“This is for you,” Ellie held up the shirt in front of Kaiden, trying to make up for her oversight.
Did she seriously think she could appease him with this afterthought of a gift?

Kaiden was about to protest when his gazended on the beautiful shirt. “I’ll try it on.”
“Try it on?” Ellie, holding the shirt, followed Kaiden upstairs, quickly realizing what he meant by saying he’d try it on.
As soon as Kaiden closed the bedroom door behind them, he yanked off his tie with one hand and started unbuttoning his shirt. All the while, his gaze remained fixed on Ellie.
He was like a hungry wolf eyeing an innocentmb.
Almost immediately, Ellie sensed the subtle and dangerous shift in the atmosphere.
She ventured, “Kaiden, what are you doing?”
“Trying on the clothes.”
While unbuttoning his shirt, he started walking towards Ellie.
Her heart began to race. She stepped back subconsciously.
Kaiden’s lips curled up slightly as Ellie backed into the wall, as though he had cornered his prey.
His thin lips parted, and he said in a low, husky voice, “Help me change.”
“Wh-what? Why can’t you change your shirt by yourself?”
