Chapter 408

    ?Chapter 408:

“Wa— Wait!” Ellie suddenly gasped, stopping him. “You forgot to use a condom,” she reminded.

Kaiden nced towards the bedside table, a good ten meters away, and for the first time cursed the expansive size of his bedroom.

They had always been careful not to forget to use a condom when they shared intimate moments.

In that moment, Kaiden was overwhelmed by a wave of impulsiveness. “I don’t want to use it,” he said.

“No!” Ellie countered, shaking her head emphatically. “I could get pregnant!”

“Then we’ll have a baby. We are legally married, Mrs. Thorpe.” Kaiden’s mind wandered to the thought of a mini version of Ellie, a little girl both delicate and charming.

“Kaiden, I’m not ready for kids yet!” There was a hint of desperation in Ellie’s eyes as she pushed against his shoulders, knowing she couldn’t stop him if he insisted.

Realizing her distressed state, Kaiden remembered that Ellie, despite being highly educated and aplished, was only twenty-one. Her peers were still in college.

He carried her to the bedside table, moving with quick, determined steps. The master bedroom echoed with his indulgent and caring voice.

    “Okay, my little girl.”

Soon after they made love, Ellie, exhausted, fell into a deep sleep. Kaiden, still awake and feeling content after helping her bathe, considered working. But seeing her asleep on the bed, he decided to stay close, foregoing his study.

He stepped out onto the balcony, lighting a cigarette, the red ember glowing in his strong hand. His phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, he answered, “Carole.”

“Kaiden, I’m really sorry about what happened today.” Carole’s voice came through, filled with regret. “I was too concerned for my friend’s safety and ended up being rude to Miss Gordon. Please, could you pass on my apologies to her… Or maybe I could apologize in person, would that be alright?”

Carole felt no regret for her attitude toward Ellie. Since Kaiden had not taken her side and had stood up for Aphrodite, she decided to let it go. After all, it seemed pointless to dwell on it.

Instead, she thought of a new n. She intentionally called Kaiden in the middle of the night, hoping to irritate Ellie.

Upon hearing that Carole wanted to apologize to Ellie, Kaiden looked toward the room, his expression softening.

“She’s asleep,” he said, implying Ellie wouldn’t want to speak with her.

Carole, phone in hand, was taken aback. They were… together. Sleeping together? Even though she knew Kaiden and Ellie were married, this detail stirred jealousy in her. After a pause, she said in a forced voice, “Kaiden, it seems like you really care about Miss Gordon.”

Kaiden didn’t respond. He was private about his personal life and didn’t like discussing it.

Carole quickly added, “Kaiden, I didn’t mean anything by it, I just…” Her voice quivered with anxious fear. “I just don’t know if I can stille to you for help if something happens in the future. I’m worried about causing you trouble.”

“Yes,” Kaiden replied indifferently. “Carole, my promise to my brother always stands.”
