?Chapter 396:
Ellie was the only one who didn’t wear a formal dress.
She was dressed in a cashmere overcoat, jeans, and ck boots with high heels. Her hair was tied back neatly for work. She had an air of casual elegance, like a wealthy woman going out for a leisurely stroll. Even in such an inconspicuous manner, she immediately attracted everyone’s attention.
Ellie had been blessed with the ability to attract attention since she was a child.
Whatever the reason might have been, it was evident that Ellie didn’t care about Carole’s party enough to wear a formal dress.
“It doesn’t matter. What you’re wearing is good enough, Miss Gordon.” From Carole’s tone, one could infer that she didn’t understand what Ellie meant. She turned to look at Kaiden and said, “Kaiden, I have something to tell you.”
After saying this, Carole flicked a nce at Ellie.
Obviously, she wanted to talk to Kaiden alone.
Kaiden did not think that her request was anything out of the ordinary. He asked Ellie to mingle with the guests until he returned and followed Carole to another side of the room.
The guests remained clueless and couldn’t grasp the situation. They started muttering amongst themselves.
“This is Carole’s wee party, so what is Ellie doing here? Shit! The atmosphere is so weird!”
“I don’t know why Kaiden brought Ellie here.”
“Oh, his new girlfriend and old me have yet to argue. These two are really calm.”
“The rumors about Ellie and Kaiden have been circting for quite some time now. Why haven’t they broken up yet?”
“There’s no way Ellie canpete with Carole. I heard Kaiden nned this entire party based on her preferences.”
“Oh, I have something even juicier to share. Carole majored in jewelry design. I hear that Kaiden sends her all kinds of gem materials every year so she can practice as she likes.”
“It’s normal. Kaiden has always doted on her since they were children. For so many years, with the exception of Ellie, Carole is the only woman who has been able to get close to him.”
Your storytelling begins at g α? ησ ν?? ??s,
“The two of them are whispering to each other over there! They are quite a good match!”
“I suddenly feel that Ellie is a little miserable!”
All the people present today were Carole’s friends, so they naturally spoke in her defense.
Perched on the armchair, Ellie rested her chin in her hand as she silently absorbed the murmurs of these individuals. Her expression remained calm and unruffled, as if the subject being discussed did not pertain to her at all.
“Miss Gordon, how do you feel when you see your husband with another woman?” Essence asked slyly as she approached Ellie, a ss of champagne in her hand.
Ellie took her eyes off Kaiden and Carole, who were talking alone not far away, and looked at Essence.
She scoffed, “Miss Robbins, your question is pointless. What do you mean?”
“Miss Robbins, you don’t have a husband. You can’t understand even if I tell you.” Ellie’s expression twisted into a sneer as she taunted, “Or maybe what you really want to know is how you will feel when your husband is with another woman in the future?”
