?Chapter 393:
“Miss Robbins, you and I aren’t close enough to hang out.” Ellie had no interest in socializing with Essence.
A sly smile yed on Essence’s lips, eager to see how Ellie would react. “We’re throwing a wee party for Carole. Mr. Thorpe will be attending too. Are you sure you won’te?”
The news caught Ellie off guard, leaving her with no time to prepare. By the time she finished her work, the clock had almost struck five in the afternoon.
Ellie pressed the elevator button, signaling her ascent to the thirty-eighth floor.
To her surprise, as the elevator doors glided open, Kaiden emerged in a wheelchair.
Kaiden seemed taken aback as Ellie approached him willingly.
“nning to join Harvillston?” he inquired.
Ellie, momentarily shocked, had almost forgotten about it. “No, I came to ask if you’re attending a wee party tonight.”
Kaiden’s tongue brushed against the back of his teeth, a clear sign of his displeasure with Ellie’s persistent refusal to join hispany. He desired to have Ellie under his watchful eye all the time—the mostforting approach for him.
Ellie approached Kaiden with her chin slightly lifted, her radiant face adorned with a subtle coquettish charm.
“I would like to attend Miss Lambert’s wee party as well. Would you mind having me as yourpanion?” she asked.
Bruce was left speechless.
This didn’t seem like Ellie was going as apanion to a wee party. It felt more like she was going there for a confrontation.
At that moment, Kaiden’s phone rang.
Ellie nced at the caller ID. It was Carole.
The CEO’s floor was quiet, and being in proximity, Ellie could faintly hear Carole’s voice emanating from the phone.
“Kaiden, have you wrapped up your work? Will youe tonight?” Her voice resonated with cheerfulness and sweetness, carrying the unique emotions of a young girl.
Ellie observed Kaiden silently, her previously rxed expression now stiffening, her smile fading.
Kaiden cast a nce at Ellie and replied, “Yes.”
Carole continued happily, “I just returned to the country and don’t have close friends here. Can you be my malepanion tonight?”
“It’s not convenient,” Kaiden replied without hesitation. “I already have a femalepanion.”
Ellie couldn’t hear Carole’s words clearly, but Kaiden’s reply hinted at his rejection of being Carole’s malepanion.
After Kaiden ended the call, Ellie furrowed her brow and inquired, “You already have a femalepanion for tonight?”
Besides Carole, did he have other choices for femalepanions?
Ellie felt like her efforts from the previous night had been in vain. She seethed with anger!
“Isn’t it you?” Kaiden gestured for Bruce to step aside and took Ellie’s hand, gently cing it on his wheelchair. “Let’s go.”
