Chapter 367

    ?Chapter 367:

This was Ellie’s first encounter with a sober and upright Marvin, and she found herself giving him a second nce—not just because of his looks, but because of his actions. He was silently holding onto Baylee’s sleeve, much like a loyal dog following its master.

This behavior seemed out of ce for him.

    Something about him felt off.

Baylee, seemingly ignoring his hand on her sleeve, let out a sigh and copsed onto the sofa.

“Is he out of his mind?” Ellie whispered softly.

Baylee, her expression numb and hopeless, responded, “What do you think?”

Before Ellie could respond, she felt a sharp, piercing gaze.

That gaze came from Marvin—a clear warning.

    Ellie was left speechless.

Baylee nced at Marvin, who immediately shot her an using look.

“He can hear perfectly well and knows when you say he’s lost his mind,” Baylee whispered to Ellie, then gently touched the hand on her sleeve. “Don’t be upset. Ellie is a friend; she even helped you once.”

Marvin looked at Ellie with an expression that conveyed, “I don’t recognize you.”

However, influenced by Baylee’s words, he hesitated, deciding not to hold a grudge against Ellie. He then gripped Baylee’s hand more firmly.

Ellie stood there, dumbfounded. It felt as though her entire understanding of the world was being turned upside down.

Was this really the cunning, deep Marvin of the Hill family?

Baylee sighed and reached for a cocktail on the coffee table.

    Arge hand stopped her.

“Drinking alcohol isn’t wise,” Marvin stated seriously, gripping Baylee’s hand to stop her from drinking.

Not in the mood to argue with Marvin, Baylee responded, “What should I drink then?”

“Milk,” he said firmly. “It’s healthy.”

“Well, I’ll settle for water,” Baylee replied, making apromise, as she hated milk.

Marvin nodded and went to the door, asking the waiter outside for warm water.

Ellie couldn’t shake the strange feeling that lingered and whispered, “Baylee, are you actually listening to him?”

Baylee, with a look of exhaustion, answered, “He’s stubborn. If I don’t go along, he’ll argue about it until tomorrow.”

Baylee then began exining the recent events. After leaving the hospital, Marvin had memory problems and developed an odd obsession with Baylee, only wanting to follow her. Feeling indebted to him for saving her life, Baylee reluctantly agreed to let Marvin stay in her apartment temporarily for his recovery. She had hoped that Marvin would return to his normal self in a few days, but that hadn’t happened.

“Is he… really like this?” Ellie gestured towards her head and quietly asked Baylee. “He still understands that drinking alcohol is harmful, right?”

Baylee nodded. “He’s perfectly capable when ites to work and outsmarting his family. His mind is sharp in those moments.”
