Chapter 321

    ?Chapter 321:

“Kaiden, are you up for some food? Araceli arranged for some cereal.”

Ellie ced the breakfast on the table.

Kaiden didn’t even spare her a nce.

After setting down each te, Ellie mumbled to herself, “Marvin’s out of surgery. If there’s nothing urgent here, maybe we can head out soon.”

Kaiden remained silent, like a parent waiting for a child to confess her wrongdoings, using silence as a tactic to prompt self-reflection. In the past, Ellie would have just walked away if Kaiden ignored her. But now, Baylee’s words echoed in her mind—”He’s waiting for you”—stirring a sense of unease within her.

“If you don’t want this food, how about we go out for breakfast?” Ellie nced at her watch. It was about five in the morning. “Breakfast ces should open in about an hour.”

Kaiden, growing impatient with her rambling, clicked his tongue.

Ellie let out a sigh. Kaiden was difficult to persuade.

She asked, “Kaiden, are you upset?”

    “No,” Kaiden responded sarcastically.

His reaction clearly showed he was indeed upset.

Biting her lip, Ellie decided to act. She leaned in and unexpectedly kissed Kaiden.

“Can you stop being upset, please?” Ellie pleaded. “I realize I owe you thanks for today. I… Ah!”

Suddenly, she found herself lifted by Kaiden, momentarily suspended in the air.

Before she knew it, she was sitting on top of Kaiden.

This position made her blush instantly.

“Is a kiss all you’re offering as thanks? Ellie, that’s not enough,” Kaiden said, his eyes captivating her at close range.

“Kaiden, let me go. We’re in a hospital.”

She pushed against his chest, her body rigid with tension. She kept ncing back at the office door, only to be drawn back as he held her chin.

Kaiden’s hands encircled Ellie’s waist, easily wrapping around it.

He smirked. “No one wille in.”

    “What if?”

Ellie was worried, trying to get up but finding herself immobilized by his hold. As she attempted to argue further, her words were cut off by his kiss. “Mmmmm!”

    Their kiss was intense.

Her heart did a tap dance, leaving Ellie somewhat befuddled, realizing that she was as jittery as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs, vignt for any intruders.

“This is how you express your gratitude, got it?” Kaiden instructed, a sly grin ying on his face.

Staring at this shameless man, Ellie retorted, “If someone walks in on this spectacle, Kaiden, you’ll be the punchline in everyone’s joke book!”
