?Chapter 268:
Kaiden hadn’t known about it before. “That’s absolute nonsense.” He knew how the media loved fabricating stories.
“But people believe it’s true. Carole even posted something. Had I not known you were married, I too would’ve believed you were with Carole,” Edwin said, standing up, visibly upset.
“I’ll have Bruce handle this,” Kaiden said to Edwin. “Sit down.” Having reached a conclusion, Edwin leaned back on the sofa and said obediently, “Alright.”
“I need to go. Tell your friend to keep youpany. I’ll take care of the bill.” Kaiden then left the private room in his wheelchair.
Edwin was left confused about the situation. “Kaiden, you invite me here and then just leave?” The wheelchair continued to move.
“Mr. Thorpe.” Bruce was waiting just outside the private room. Kaiden, maintaining a serious expression, inquired, “Did Carole post something?”
Bruce was unsure. “I’ll find out immediately. Please give me a moment.” Edwin, when sober, denied having feelings for Ellie. Yet, when intoxicated, he consistently avoided the topic.
The more Edwin behaved like this, the clearer it became to Kaiden. Even if Edwin remained unaware of his feelings for Ellie, Kaiden understood that if Edwin didn’t value Ellie, how could he know about the admiration she received from numerous individuals?
If Edwin didn’t have feelings for Ellie, he wouldn’t have stayed silent on the matter. He wouldn’t have stood up for her, even when drunk. He wouldn’t have insisted he didn’t like her while defending her.
The cold winter wind brushed against Kaiden’s face. He gazed at the bustling traffic in the distance, pondering Edwin’s words. Kaiden had been aware of Ellie’s poprity, but it wasn’t until now that he truly grasped the extent of desire she ignited within their social circle.
Ellie, once a noble youngdy, lost her status and was forced into marriage with him by the Gordon family. All of a sudden, Kaiden felt a sense of fortune in these twists of fate. Without them, he might never have had the chance to marry Ellie.

“Mr. Thorpe, I found it.” Bruce presented his phone to Kaiden, exining, “Carole posted this five days ago. Many people thought you were the one who posted it.” The post featured an Indian mask, captioned to indicate it was made by Mr. Thorpe.
Ellie had just started her nap when the iing call interrupted her. The caller ID was unfamiliar.
“Hello.”
“Ellie, are you still in bed? Did you forget that you need toe and watch the show?” The voice on the other end spoke in fluent French. Ellie suddenly woke up and jumped from the bed. “No, no. I’ll be there on time.”
The caller concluded the call with a discontented snort.
Ellie hurriedly prepared herself. She chose a subtle yet stylish velvet long dress. It gracefully reached her ankles, blending the elegance of a gown without being overly formal, making it ideal for a private show.
