?Chapter 267:
Kaiden sneered inwardly. To make time for a casual meeting with Edwin, Ellie had turned down going to the party with him.
Staring at Edwin, who sat across from him with his head down, Kaiden asked, “Does it bother you that we’re married?”AdChoicesADVERTISING
“Not at all.” Edwin picked up another ss of wine and gulped it down. He was stopped by Kaiden when he picked up another ss.
Kaiden handed him a bottle of stronger wine, saying, “This one hits faster.”
Edwin took the bottle and downed a few mouthfuls of wine.
As the alcohol took effect, Edwin’s gaze at Kaiden changed.
“Kaiden, you might not know, half the guys in our ss had a thing for Ellie, but I,” Edwin pointed at himself with a hint of pride, “I was in the other half. But…”
Edwin hesitated before adding, less confidently, “There were still plenty who secretly admired Ellie in that half.”
Kaiden knew he shouldn’t care about that. It was normal for attractive, smart girls to be popr in school. He also knew Ellie’s reputation as a top socialite.
But hearing these things from Edwin made Kaiden feel frustrated.
“A bunch of upperssmen and underssmen chased after Ellie too,” Edwin’s voice dropped to a hush, as if sharing a secret. “Guess what, in our group, the Shaw family’s younger son and the Lee family’s sons secretly fancy Ellie.”
Kaiden inquired, “You’re saying both Lee families’ sons like Ellie?” The Lee families from Critport had made it into the top ranks of the wealthy elite.
Edwin nodded. “Yeah, both Lee families.”
Kaiden recalled visiting a restaurant outside Studio City that served delicious food. It turned out to be owned by a son from one of the Lee families.
He felt a sudden urge to destroy that restaurant.

“And what about you? Do you like her too?” Kaiden asked.
Edwin appeared exhausted from his drinking. He gazed at Kaiden, wine bottle in hand, seemingly oblivious to Kaiden’s earlier question. Eventually, Edwin said, “Kaiden, Ellie has many admirers, yet here you are, still fighting with her.”
“It’s her who’s picking fights with me,” Kaiden corrected Edwin.
“She picks fights with you?” Edwin felt a twinge of jealousy. He had known Ellie for over a decade but had never witnessed her engage in arguments with any man. Her interactions with men were either polite or cold courtesy. For all these years, Edwin had been on the receiving end of her cold demeanor, which left him feeling downhearted.
Edwin quickly came back to his senses and asked, “Why is she fighting with you? Is it because of the rumors about you and Carole?” Edwin seemed to have hit upon an answer, muttering to himself, “That must be the reason. You two shouldn’t just argue. You should end things.”
Kaiden, resisting the urge tosh out at Edwin, asked with a frown, “What rumor?”
“You haven’t heard? International media are specting about your romantic involvement with Carole.” Edwin tried to find the news on his phone but failed. Frustrated, he threw the phone down. “I can’t find the article.”
