Chapter 239

    ?Chapter 239:

“I’m fine,” Ellie responded, still pondering the coincidence.

The timing was too perfect. The power had failed just as Kaiden arrived. Surely, he must have tampered with the building’s electricity to evade the surveince cameras.

In the days that followed, Ellie threw herself into her work with renewed focus.

On Friday, Baylee paid a visit to the set to catch up with Ellie and brought along some intriguing news.

“I’ve got some information about that silver ne you were inquiring about,” Baylee began. “It turns out the ne was specially made for a young girl over 20 years ago by her parents. It symbolizes safety, happiness, and longevity. Unfortunately, not long after its creation, the family left the country, and there’s been no trace of them since.”

“They left the country, so it’s unlikely we’ll hear anything more about them,” Ellie concluded, feeling a wave of disappointment.

Baylee wrapped an arm around her, offeringfort. “At least now you know your parents had great hopes and love for you.”

Ellie let out a small, resigned smile. “I’ve been searching for years, clinging to this token, yet all leads have vanished. Perhaps it’s my fate to be without family. Let’s just forget about it. I won’t search for them anymore.”

When Demi returned from her shooting, Baylee spotted her and turned to Ellie. “Why does Demi seem to pop up wherever you are? She’s like a bad penny.”

Hearing this, Ellie couldn’t help butugh.

ncing at her watch, Ellie stood up, removed her coat, and ced it aside. “Hang around for a bit, Baylee. I need to change into my dance outfit.”

Baylee looked puzzled. “Aren’t you the stylist? Why do you need dance clothes?”

Ellie exined, “The original dancer sprained her ankle. The stage and props are already set up, and this is the final scene I need to style myself. If I don’t finish the shoot, I’ll be stuck here for longer.” Basically, Ellie was keen to wrap up her workday early.

Shortly after, Demi, having changed, approached Baylee. “Baylee, tell me what you desire and how I can make the owner of the Rich Bar apologize to me and Erick. Should you want a house, a car, or a check?”

    Your new favorite is gα?ησν????s?c?m

Baylee’s annoyance red up at the sight of Demi. “If you bother me again, I’ll make sure everyone knows that you and Erick are trying to bribe the Rich Bar’s owner.”

That would be far more embarrassing.

“Hey!” Demi stamped her foot, infuriated. “You and Ellie are two of a kind. Pretending to be wealthy when your family’s bankrupt. And Ellie, making herself a dancer’s understudy as if she could perform ssical dance just because she’s good at ballet. Ridiculous!”

Two hourster, Ellie emerged, transformed into her dance attire and fully styled.

As the music started to y, its notes ringing through the air, Ellie gracefully ascended the stage, her long sleeves trailing behind her.

As Ellie moved in her red dance dress, the fabric flowed around her like blooming petals, enhancing the rhythm of her dance. Her expressions shifted seamlessly between frowns and smiles, embodying both grace and delicacy.
