Chapter 238

    ?Chapter 238:

“I’ll take a private jet,” he stated simply.

“I see,” Ellie mused. “Will you make it back for Mrs. Stephens’ birthday on Saturday?”

The uing Saturday marked the 50th birthday of Theo and Edwin’s mother, and both Kaiden and Ellie were invited.

Kaiden assured her, “I’ll be there.”

“Alright.” Ellie tried to hide her frustration. “Will you bring me a gift? As Mrs. Thorpe, I think I’m entitled to one.”

    She certainly was.

With a smile, Kaiden asked, “What would you like? A bag? Diamonds?”

“I’ve heard about those unique masks from private shops in Tormeto. Could you make me one?” Ellie suggested. Noticing his slight frown, she added, “If you’re short on time, maybe a box of maple tea from Tormeto?”

Kaiden could easily purchase ready-made maple tea, sparing himself both time and effort. This variety of maple tea was a recent addition to the tea market and quite scarce in their country.

    “Okay,” Kaiden nodded in agreement.

His height was striking. When he stood close to Ellie, gently pressing her against the wall, he had to bend down to meet her gaze.

In that moment, Ellie felt as if she werepletely enveloped in his world.

Gazing up into his eyes with a tentative smile, she ventured, “Kaiden, do you… perhaps, have some fondness for me?”

Their moment was interrupted by a sudden knock at the door.

“What was that?” The knock had obscured the end of her question, leaving Kaiden confused.

“It’s nothing,” Ellie dismissed, shaking her head slightly.

From outside, Bruce called to Kaiden, “Mr. Thorpe, it’s time to leave.”

Kaiden tenderly cradled Ellie’s face, stealing another kiss before announcing, “I must go now.”

He then opened the door and stepped out into the darkness.

Shortly after, the sound of a circuit breaker echoed, followed by the room being flooded with light.

The entire encounter felt like a fleeting dream to Ellie.

She ran her fingers through her hair, vexed. Had she really just asked Kaiden such a bold question?

Leaning back against the wall, Ellie let out a heavy sigh. She was torn between feeling relieved that Bruce’s interruption hade at the right time and frustrated that it had disturbed them at such a crucial moment. She was left wondering how Kaiden would have responded. Would he have nodded in affirmation or simplyughed off her query?

“Miss Gordon, are you alright?” a staff member inquired upon entering the dressing room. “The power on this floor had tripped suddenly, but we’ve just managed to fix it.”
