?Chapter 207:
Kaiden nced at her red ears for a moment, still holding the ss of medicine. “Would you like to drink it?” he asked.
Ellie hesitated.
She knew he was asking if she wanted to drink it herself or if she wanted him to help her.
Taking a deep breath, she reached out a shaky hand. “I… I’ll drink it myself.”
She was determined to do it on her own!
Kaiden nearlyughed seeing her gulp down the medicine.
Ellie, known for her dignity, yet so delicate, was afraid of pain and medicine.
After returning the empty ss to the bedside table, Ellie was lost in thought. If only she had known this would happen, she might have acted differently!
Suddenly, Kaiden reached for her shirt.
“Hey! Don’t… I need to go to work tomorrow. I can’t miss it or bete!” Ellie stepped back, wary.
Kaiden just adjusted her cor and said coolly, “You’re overthinking it.” Ellie was at a loss for words.
Was he making fun of her? It wasn’t her fault. His shirt was simply toorge!
Frustrated by having to take the medicine and his teasing, Ellie turned her back to him and climbed into bed. “I’m going to sleep!” she dered.
Kaiden gently wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close, his favorite way to sleeptely.
He yfully bit her ear and whispered, “Ellie, you should feel lucky you’re sick.”
Otherwise, he might have kept her awake all night!
After the medicine, Ellie slept so deeply that she didn’t hear her phone ring.
Kaiden nced at the caller ID, took her phone, and stepped out of the bedroom, closing the door behind him.
“Ellie, it’s Grandma,” came the elderly voice over the phone. Cecelia spoke gently. “I heard Demi was cklisted by a bar because of you. Could you please ask the bar’s owner to apologize? You’ve always been capable and well-connected since you were young, so…”

Kaiden’s expression turned stern. He cut her off, “Mrs. Gordon, this is Kaiden.”
A brief silence followed, then panic tinged the voice on the other end. “Is that Kaiden? Why… Why isn’t Ellie answering?”
“Ellie’s asleep. Mrs. Gordon, she can’t assist with Demi’s issue. It’s best you don’t bother her again, understood?” Kaiden’s tone was firm. Cecelia, ever the savvy elder, quickly grasped the implicit warning in his words.
Taken aback, she simply replied, “I understand.”
After ending the call, Kaiden stared at the word “Grandma” on the screen, a cold glint in his eyes. Ellie had once sought his help because of Cecelia, and now Cecelia was calling on behalf of Demi for Ellie! He felt sorry for Ellie.
At six in the morning, the winter dawn was dark, and the cityy still in the hushed morning mist.
In the backseat of the Maybach, Ellie kept yawning. She nced at Kaiden, busy with his emails, puzzled at how someone who slept so little could be so full of energy.
