    “They’re looking for our president. They’ve already gone upstairs. Hey, ma’am,” the receptionist responded, still recovering from her surprise.


    Ellie trekked all the way back, stepped into the elevator, and ascended to the thirty-eighth floor.

    As soon as the elevator doors slid open, a furious voice erupted from outside.


    “Kaiden, you are really something, huh! To think that you’ve ascended to the presidency of the GT Group. I, your father, am astounded that you kept this monumental secret from me for so long. Had Talon not enlightened me, I would’ve remained oblivious to your actions against your own family’s interests. All these years of raising you amounted to nothing.”


    “Kaiden, the me lies with you. Your secrecy is unfathomable. Are you plotting against our family?”


    The market was far from expansive. The ventures of the GT Group and the Thorpe Group often shed, making them rivals in many respects. Upon hearing these words, Ellie dashed out. She beheld Jorge, supported by Erick, with one hand gripping a cane, standing just outside the president’s office conference room.


    Kaiden, seated in a wheelchair, was surrounded by a cluster of GT Group’s top executives, who stood in silence, seemingly too stunned to speak.


    Evidently, they hadn’t anticipated that their president would be the ck sheep of the Thorpe family.


    “Why are you here?” Kaiden’s attention snapped to Ellie almost immediately upon the elevator’s opening.


    Her hair was disheveled, as if she had run all the way.

    Kaiden nced at his watch and addressed Jorge, “You’re here without an appointment. Out of respect for my mother, I’ll grant you a mere five minutes.”


    “What five minutes? Kaiden, I’m your father,” Jorge retorted, thumping his cane on the floor in anger.

    Kaiden mused, perhaps Jorge should rather be Talon’s father. Kaiden’s eyes shimmered with scorn, yet he refrained from uttering another word to Jorge.


    Jorge, regainingposure, inquired, “When did you join the GT Group? Why didn’t you tell us?”


    Erick soothed Jorge’s chest. “Grandpa, we discovered that Kaiden assumed the position of CEO at the GT Group three years ago. He’s been remarkably adept at keeping secrets, deceiving us for years. It’s no surprise he effortlessly spent three billion dors at the recent auction.”
