?Chapter 157:
Carole Lambert?
The name rang a bell for Ellie, but before she could ce it, she got distracted.
“Miss Robbins, please ry this to thewyer. I have no interest in further discussion with someone infatuated with my husband,” Ellie concluded the call and then addressed Erick, who was blocking her path. “Erick, you’re obstructing my car.”
Standing in front of the Koenigsegg, Erick stood transfixed, his gaze locked on the supercar he had once aspired to own but failed to acquire.
“Is that photo real? This is your car? How did you get it?” The realization that the car before him was the very one he coveted left him incredulous.
“It was a gift from your uncle,” Ellie casually revealed, her hand resting on the car door, a hint of satisfaction in her voice at Erick’s stunned expression.
“What did you just say?”
“But this car is different from the one you missed out on at the auction,” Ellie said with a smile. “The sports car you’ve been dreaming about has been in Kaiden’s garage all this time.”
The news shocked and angered Erick more than the fact that he’d been deliberately outbid by Kaiden at the auction.
“How can this be? There are only three of these cars in the world. It’s impossible…” Erick mumbled in disbelief. A sudden thought struck him, and he abruptly turned his gaze towards the GT Group building. Observing his reaction, Ellie frowned. “Why are you here?”
Erick, who had been standing at the entrance of GT Group, seemed to recall something urgently, quickly retreated to his car, and drove off. Ellie, who had no ns for the afternoon, was intending to visit Rich Bar to review the turnover and data from theb.
As soon as the car stopped at Rich Bar, Ellie blinked in a pause. Erick’s abrupt departure and hisst nce towards the GT Group reyed in her mind.
Why did Erick leave so suddenly?

What was he nning to do?
Thest thing he saw was the GT Group building.
Did he suspect something?
With these thoughts swirling in her head, Ellie restarted the engine and swiftly returned to the GT Group.
Upon entering the GT Group’s lobby, Ellie sensed a change in the atmosphere.
The receptionist whispered, indicating the arrival of someone important.
Ellie caught snippets of the conversation.
“I’m not sure why the people from Thorpe Group are here.”
“Who did you say was here?” Ellie inquired, her body reacting faster than her thoughts. Before she knew it, she was standing before the receptionist.
The receptionist was almost frightened. “The people from Thorpe Group… It appears to be the eldest son of the Thorpe family, supporting an older gentleman.”
“Who are they looking for?” Ellie pressed.
