?Chapter 126:
After Ellie and Kaiden departed, the Gordons retreated to their vi. The remaining societydies began to specte.
“Araceli, who was that man just now?” one of them asked.
“I think Mrs. Gordon referred to him as Mr. Thorpe,” Araceli replied. Since Kaiden hadn’t corrected Litzy earlier, it implied that he wasfortable with thesedies knowing his identity. Perhaps now was the time for some of his secrets to be revealed.
“Yes,” Araceli confirmed. “That’s Kaiden Thorpe.”
“Kaiden? My… if not for his disability, I would have considered him a match for my daughter solely based on his looks! Such a shame.”
“Really? You’re still into good-looking men?”
“Who isn’t? Handsome men mean beautiful children!”
Araceli, however, was well aware that Kaiden’s condition wasn’t what it appeared to be, and she knew he wouldn’t be interested in thatdy’s daughter.
Anotherdy prodded, “Araceli, why get involved in their affairs? You’ve now antagonized the Gordons for Ellie’s sake.” She continued, “I hear your youngest son isn’t fond of Ellie.”
Araceli offered a knowing smile. “You’re talking about Edwin, right?” Yet, she remained silent, choosing not to divulge more. She couldn’t reveal to thesedies that she recognized the sapphire, having seen it once in Edwin’s possession. Regrettably, the remarkable Ellie was now married to another.
In the end, the fallout from the failed high-end furniture contract left Houston working through the night at hispany. He returned home only the next morning, visibly drained.
“Dad!” Demi rushed to support him.
Litzy expressed her concern as well. “Houston, what happened?”

“The contract… it’s gone,” Houston replied, his gaze fixed vacantly on the ceiling as hey on the sofa.
Despite his efforts, including a generous five-percent concession, the other party wouldn’t budge. Houston had been confident about securing the contract, having already set up subsequent deals. Now, the loss of the exclusive agency rights meantpensating downstream partners and facing a significant stock price drop.
“How could this happen…” Demi whispered to herself.
The implications for her were clear. Without thepany’s sess, her luxurious lifestyle filled with designer clothes and luxury items would be in jeopardy.
“Could it be Kaiden’s influence?” she wondered aloud.
“Kaiden?” Houston bolted upright at the mention of the name.
Litzy, pale-faced, quickly dismissed the idea. “Impossible! The Thorpe family is under Erick’s control now. Kaiden has no influence. And that manufacturer isn’t linked to the Thorpe family. You’re overthinking it, Houston.”
Demi stayed quiet, her eyes downcast.
