?Chapter 124:
Demi quickly interjected, “It was a mistake. I confused Ellie’s brooch with the one my mother gave me. They look simr, and that led to the misunderstanding.”
“Yes, Ellie. Why didn’t you rify things?” Litzy quickly added, shifting the me toward Ellie.
“Are you both blind?” Kaiden responded coolly, his words dripping with sarcasm.
Litzy and Demi felt increasingly cornered by his retort.
“Mr. Thorpe, I believe your remarks are somewhat harsh. Remember, I am your senior,” Litzy responded, her voice tinged with indignation and condescension.
Kaiden simply looked at Litzy, his silent, mocking gaze saying everything she needed to hear.
“Mrs. Gordon, while we’re on the subject, to be exact, you’re Erick’s senior,” Araceli chimed in unexpectedly.
Considering that Demi was Litzy’s biological daughter, and that Erick was Demi’s boyfriend, this naturally made Litzy his senior.
Litzy’s lips tightened in irritation. She couldn’t understand why Araceli kept siding with Ellie, especially since she couldn’t recall any past grievances.
When the maid ryed news of a guest in a wheelchair, Houston quickly emerged. To his delight, it was Kaiden. His face broke into a weing smile.
“Kaiden, what a surprise! Why didn’t you inform us—”
“Mr. Gordon, if you can’t manage your own household, how do you expect to handle your business affairs? Given these circumstances, you can forget about the exclusive agency rights for the new furniture line.”
Houston’spany had been vying for exclusive rights to a high-end furniture line, though it wasn’t through Kaiden’spany. Confused by Kaiden’s cryptic remark, Houston’s thoughts were interrupted by an urgent call from his secretary.
“Mr. Gordon, the deal’s off! The otherpany has pulled out!”

“But everything was nearly finalized. We were about to sign the agreement!” Houston responded, stunned.
Litzy and Demi turned toward him, aware of the deal’s importance to the Gordon family’s ambitions in the furniture market.
“nning to stay here overnight?” Kaiden nced at Ellie.
“Oh, impossible. Let’s leave,” Ellie replied, still reeling from Kaiden’s unexpected intervention.
Meanwhile, Houston’s secretary continued, “I don’t know what happened. They just called to cancel, stating it was an order from their superiors.”
It was clear they had somehow antagonized a significant figure in the otherpany.
Watching Kaiden and Ellie depart, Houston felt a cold dread creep up on him. “Mr. Thorpe, please wait!” Now addressing Kaiden with newfound respect and apprehension, Houston sought rification.
He attempted to follow but was quickly halted by bodyguards who appeared out of nowhere.
