?Chapter 90:
Ellie expressed her gratitude once more.
For the next two days, Ellie remained at the hospital, waiting for Cecelia’s health indicators to normalize.
When Cecelia awoke and saw only Ellie at her bedside, with her son and daughter-inw absent, she sighed, a mix of disappointment and sadness in her eyes.
Ellie could sense Cecelia’s feelings, despite her attempts to hide them.
Seventy-two hours passed, and Erick had not heard from Ellie as he expected. Upon arriving at the hospital, Erick found Ellie carrying nutritious meals with her. She had just returned from a high-end restaurant.
She seemed at ease, her movements graceful.
“Ellie, why didn’t you respond to my calls?” Erick confronted her with a mix of anger and mockery. “You im to care about your grandmother, yet you refused to make sacrifices for her well-being!”
Ellie looked at him as if he were foolish. “My grandmother is safe now. Your concern is unnecessary, dear ex-fiancé. As for your calls…” Pausing, she added, “Oh, I blocked you.” Her apologycked any real remorse.
“You blocked me?” Erick was incredulous, feeling insulted.
Ellie shot back, “If I don’t block a cheating ex-fiancé, then who should I block?”
Theo, mitted to his patients, was at the hospital for Cecelia’s check-up. He overheard the exchange and nearlyughed at Ellie’s sharp retort.
“Mr. Thorpe, what a surprise to see you here,” Theo greeted Erick cordially.
Despite his close friendship with Kaiden, Theo maintained a professional demeanor in front of the Thorpe family.
Erick’s realization dawned upon seeing Theo—Ellie had sought Theo’s help for her grandmother.
The card Erick had held, which he thought would give him leverage over Ellie, now seemed worthless.
With a dark expression, Kaiden cast a cold nce at Ellie before departing.

“Mr. Stephens, I apologize for making you witness that unpleasant encounter,” Ellie said, referring to Erick dismissively.
Theo responded with a smile. “No need for apologies.”
After confirming Cecelia’s stable condition, Theo bid farewell and sought out Kaiden for a brief conversation.
“I must say, your wife is quite a character. I always heard the top socialite of the Gordon family was noble yet unexciting. Seems I was misinformed!”
Theo’sment was met with a frosty look from Kaiden.
Feeling a sudden chill, Theo added, “Hey, I’m justplimenting her. What’s with the cold stare? Can’t I appreciate her qualities?” He regarded Kaiden with a puzzled look, venturing a spective guess. “Oh, are you being possessive here?”
The notion of possessiveness usually implied affection. Could it be… Could someone as tough as Kaiden actually have feelings for Ellie?
Dismissing his own thoughts, Theo shifted the conversation. “Houston didn’t care about his own mother’s health, but Ellie, who’s not even a blood rtive, showed incredible dedication. And that new Gordon family member, Diana or whatever, could’ve easily sought Erick’s help but didn’t. Instead, she allowed Erick to use this situation against your wife.”
