Chapter 50

    ?Chapter 50:

    “Yes, sir.”

Obediently, the maid approached. She couldn’t help but notice Ellie’s ethereal beauty—her damp hair contrasting against the white towel, her skin so pale. Even in her disheveled state, Ellie exuded an artful grace.

The maid understood Kaiden’s privacy concerns; Ellie’s allure was undeniable, captivating to anyone, regardless of gender.

She gently dressed Ellie in Kaiden’s shirt, puzzled by his reluctance to do it himself. Weren’t they a couple?

Perhaps she should suggest using Ellie’s own clothes from the wardrobe, but she decided against it, assuming it might be a romantic gesture between them.

Kaiden’s ck shirt hung on Ellie like an oversized dress, her injured knee and lower leg exposed, creating a striking contrast with the dark fabric.

    Kaiden watched, his expression hardening.

A bath towel would have been more appropriate.

Before the doctor entered, the maid cautioned him not to look around too much. However, human curiosity often prevails.

Inadvertently, the doctor nced at Ellie, immediately drawing a stern warning from Kaiden. “Care to keep your eyes?” It was a threat.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Thorpe!” The doctor quickly averted his gaze, apologizing.

In his profession, patients were seen without gender bias.

“Is Mrs. Thorpe’s injury only on her knee?” he inquired, carefully removing the bandage.

“Yes,” Kaiden confirmed, having previously checked. Ellie’s main issue now was intoxication.

As the bandage came off, the severity of the wound was apparent. The prolonged soaking had worsened its appearance.

    The doctor began his treatment.

“Ouch!” At the touch, Ellie woke up, reacting sharply to the pain and instinctively pulling away.

“Don’t move!” Kaiden firmly held her shoulder, steadying her.

“Mrs. Thorpe, it’s crucial to treat this properly to prevent infection,” the doctor tried to reassure her.

“I can’t stand it! It’s too painful!” Ellie protested, writhing in difort.

As she spoke, her legs curled up, and she involuntarily leaned closer into Kaiden’s hold.

“Ellie, stay still!” Kaiden could feel her clinging to his chest.

With Ellie draped in only his shirt, the thin fabric barely separating their skin, Kaiden’s awareness of her body against his intensified.

A subtle desire spread within him.

“No… it hurts! Staying still doesn’t help! It hurts! You lied to me!” Ellie’s tears began to flow as the doctor touched her wound with crumpled gauze.

Kaiden had thought she might be exaggerating, but looking down, he saw genuine tears streaming down her face, marring her usually perfect features.
