?Chapter 15:
They seemed to be using Kaiden of being nothing but cruel to Ellie!
Kaiden’s gaze turned icy, his presence intimidating.
Bruce quickly averted his eyes, regretting his interjection.
Kaiden’s frown deepened, displeased with the implication that he was mistreating Ellie.
Ellie, having slipped into the gown and applied minimal makeup, took just an hour to get ready.
She descended the stairs in a sleek ck satin gown, her long hair now casually tied up. The gown, elegantly simple with a knee-high slit, plemented her soft skin against the dark fabric.
Holding a clutch, Ellie approached Kaiden. “I need to step out for a bit,” she said, maintaining courtesy.
Before, she hadn’t told Kaiden of her whereabouts due to his frequent absences. Now, with him present, she observed the proper etiquette.
Kaiden remained focused on his documents, not uttering a word.
Ellie’s gown arrived at Moon Manor’s security office the day before the Fashion Ceremony.
Cayson, on the phone with the security office, reported to Kaiden, “Mr. Thorpe, Mrs. Thorpe’s gown is at the entrance.” He nced at Kaiden, waiting for a response.
Kaiden, absorbed in a merger contract, looked up at Cayson. His face seemed to say, “Should I get it for her?”
Cayson instructed the guards to bring in the gown and exined, “Mr. Thorpe, since you just got married, it’s not exactly clear to us how you regard her. So we aren’t sure how to treat her.”
Kaiden, still preupied with the contract, nced up. “How I regard her?” he echoed, a hint of surprise in his tone.
Cayson borated, “After the wedding, you sent Mrs. Thorpe away and threw away her gown. And she’s been taking taxis recently. It’s led to some… spection.”
Bruce, sorting papers nearby, couldn’t help but add, “And, Mr. Thorpe, you did leave her on the road earlier.”
